As bad as Bill O'Brien's playcalling has been at times...

We are still #2 in the SEC in total offense and almost in a virtual tie for #1 in scoring offense. We are also Top 5 in the nation in each of those categories. Sadly, it's the consistency (or lack thereof) that constantly pisses us off.

I think the new OL and new receivers have caused BOB to get crapped on alot. Getting the OL established and trying to sort these new receivers out is the bigger issue which makes BOB probably catch more heat than is warranted, IMO. We have had alot of dropped balls and had little movement on the OL until recently. Not to mention Bryce was getting alot of pressure. Seems we are at least getting better OL play and the young receivers have shown glimpses. We need to get Niblack going too. Latu has just disappeared so far.

All of that is true.BUT…when we threw a pass on first and goal from the one after the long Milroe run, it was like every criticism of his play calling condensed into one moment. The ball got batted up and was oh so close to being intercepted. Saban was apoplectic and almost stroked out on the sideline. I would imagine Bama fans across the country could relate.

I think he stepped in at that point and told O'Brien to run the football. It worked because the next two times we had the ball we broke off long runs for touchdowns.

Teams throw all the time deep in the redzone. However we were like on the 5? Saban was pissed. I thought Milroe could have just tucked it and ran.

He called a decent game yesterday.

He finally schemed a little better by getting Bond & Prentice (2 Speedsters) matched up one on one with Arky's safeties. BOB finally called screen passes to the right people.

Until some of these young receivers can take the place of 7 and 11 we're going to continue to struggle on offense. The 7-11 boyz are halfazz at best.

So it was the new OL and new WRs who made Bill O'Brien put is in shotgun in 4th and less than one against Texas?

Were they the ones that made him do a pass play in 1st and goal on the 3 yard line with our backup running QB in the game?

BTW, our freshmen WRs were amazing (Bond and Kobe) and our young OL have been great (JC Latham and Booker).

Disagree. Those guys are solid. Nothing more but undeserving of criticism. The young receivers stepped up while Bryce was playing. We are gonna see even more of them moving forward.

Our WRs are doing much better at getting open, which was the concern. Now they just need to catch the ball. That can be fixed. We know that are capable of catching.

Does Saban not know the play calls?

They are both very good players the both dropped a pass or two no biggie. I think people who get paid MILLIONS still drop passes.

The plan the last 2 weeks had been really good.

Milroe coming in was an atom bomb to that plan, so it's understandable it was a bit of a crapshoot to figure out what was working with him in there.

We are a finesse team when catering to Bryce's skills as a passer. Bryce getting injured allowed us to focus on the most skilled RB we have had since Derrick Henry. Hopefully, Bryce's injury will allow us to become a truly balanced team. With balance I think we are unbeatable. Otherwise, I think we lose a game or two.

Not sure about this instance, but my lip reading skills had him saying “Just run the #@$@& ball.”

Perfectly stated. Also, we got two former NFL head coaches on the staff that don’t have a QB sneak from under center in the playbook.

No, no he didn’t. He has a difficult time calling games for Bryce, the fact that he can’t at all call a game for Milroe is disturbing. They aren’t the same type of qb. Bob can’t adapt
