Cam was no bust by any stretch but with his measurables he should have been a top 10 pick or better. A false start machine and he should have been more dominant than he was. I am not ready to say Williams is better as a sophomore than Cam was last year but I won't rule it out. I thought he and Bozeman were our best linemen last year.

Williams is a mean sombitch with a great, wide stance and quick feet. I honestly would not be surprised if he developed into the best, most consistent LT in the Saban era.

If Williams has more penalties than Cam had last year, then I'm going to go nuts. I can't handle it

Cam Rob was solid, be he just didn't improve like he should have. His freshman season, might have been his best.

Completely agree and yes I think Jonah will be better this year than Cam last year.

Well were downgrading at right tackle that is for damn sure. Jonah played some grown man football last year.

My question has been that if Tua comes in does Jonah move back to RT?

I doubt it. I like having Williams-Pierschbacher-Bozeman on that side of the line. I think we can punish people in the run game going left. I doubt that gets disrupted regardless of the QB.

Right side should be stout too. I really have high expectations for Lester Cotton.

Williams is kind of like Ryan Kelly was, hard to put weight on him. Next level he will have to be 310 315 or better and it would help him in the run game now.

Robinson hurt us many times last year with penalties, and killed some big possessions, I think it will be an upgrade.

I think its a definite possibly. Cam had a good year last year besides the penalties. I think that Williams is more disciplined, and more physical than Cam, but we shall see.

My hope is that we upgrade in less false starts by the left tackle.

Anybody got a count on the number of false start penalties we got when we tried to go hurry up in the red zone directly following a big play?

20-30 yd pass or run to put us in scoring position --> hurry to the line --> false start --> behind the chains and out of scoring position.

Like clockwork

I'd argue Jonah was better LAST year as a freshman than Cam was as a junior. Cam had a great 1st year and seemed to lose focus and get worse each year. Last year, he was serviceable but not a dominant LT by any stretch of the imagination.

So yes, Jonah will be an upgrade IMO. The question is...do we have anyone who can take his spot at RT? Womack doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

Alex Leatherwood can be just as good as Williams.

He looked out of shape and lost in the spring. Williams never did. We will see how Leatherwood does in fall camp, he certainly has a high ceiling but it may take him a year or two to blossom sort of like DJ Fluker.

Robinson, like both Kouandjios before him, just could never learn the damn snap count. Boggled my mind.

yes upgrade,

As far as the right side, jury is still out on Lester but I think Womack will surprise people at RT and if he doesn't next man up.

Leatherwood got his arse whipped at practice yesterday.

Some guy on Rivals posted this about practice yesterday...

quote:

Little birdie tells me that Q Williams whipped Leatherwood several times in drills yesterday and that R Davis and Cotton got into a really impressive brawl where dozens of punches were thrown, which is typical during early summer practice. Cotton had to run for a long time around the field and missed precious reps. Also, Ray is looks great.

All true, Josh Chapman made a comment on this saying how dumb they were for punching each others face mask, he would have gone for the legs lol.
