Alabama doesn’t run a meerkat offense like Gus or Freeze. Rees was brought in to incorporate the tight ends more into our offense and that position has accumulated more talent than we’ve had in recent seasons. Bottom line is Alabama had a tough situation on offense this season with an inexperienced new quarterback with a new OC and a line that had its share of issues. We had to roll with Milroe because he was the best that we had. With another year in the system Milroe will either get better and take Alabama to the playoff. Or, Simpson takes over.

I love Coker but you put him on this team... with this C and this O line, and this running game, we wouldn't come close to making the playoffs.
Coker had a Heisman-winning RB carrying most of the load, Derrick Henry rushed for 2200 yards and 28 TDs that year.

Henry had 395 carries for 5.6 YPC. Our top four backs had 357 for 5.1 YPC.
We ran joyless murderball that year and were able to run play action, something we couldn’t this year.
Considering Coker could throw the ball over the middle of the field and sustain drives, I highly doubt we don’t see an uptick in rushing yardage worth .2-.3 yards. Not to mention the line adjustments and play action keeping the defense honest.
I don’t doubt the snaps don’t change, but you’re trading an offense that doesn’t rely on boom or bust long balls, which Coker could make, for something that is much for efficient and keeps the defense off the field, which Jalen can’t.
Also this line isn’t much different than that 2015 one. The bigger difference is Coker doesn’t hold the ball for four seconds

I would love to see 6’6 Jake Coker taking ankle snaps from Seth Mclaughlin all year then getting the ball out before he got sacked behind this OL. We would have given up more like 70 sacks instead of 49 and would have way more turnovers since he wouldnt be able to track the ball down before the defense gets to it when its snapped 20 yards behind him like Milroe can.
Not to mention, you put prime Derrick Henry on this team we win the NC no doubt.

There are only a few responses to you at this point, Fever:
1.) You are Milroe’s brother, and I’m sorry we are being so hard on someone who has an NIL value of 1.4M
2.) You never watched a single second of UA football this year, and I’m happy to purchase you a new TV
3.) You’re unreasonably cherry picking stats to fit the narrative you want. Everyone in this thread has provided numerous examples to contradict your claims (based off a single stat you Googled), and you are entrenched in your point-of-view. The OL sucked, but Milroe is not an elite QB.

I have never once said Milroe is an elite QB. I just don't like to see him being dogged and blamed for all of our problems this year when in reality we had a lot bigger problems and he was actually a bright spot.
If he improves next year and we improve around him like we should, we have a great shot to win the NC.

Ok. Is it possible that it is reasonable to see a QB with serious holes in his game that have absolutely nothing to do with admittedly poor OL play at times and ask him to shoulder his share of the blame? I have no problem admitting the OL needs to be much better. So does the QB.

I have always thought Alabama had a knowledgeable fan base, and the majority of the responses show this. I will be surprised if one of the three mentioned favorites wins the Heisman.

I would take literally any other starting QB in the Saban era over Milroe. They would all be an upgrade.

Yeah I saw him play vs USF no thanks.
What precisely did you see? I saw him get blind sided 2 times and complete a few passes on the scoring drives.

You’re completely discounting that McElroy would have adjusted the OL protection, he would understand where the pressure is coming from, and distribute the ball accordingly.
I’d argue that Milroe is in effect the exact opposite of a game manager.
All the things a game manager can’t do he’s outstanding at:
-elite arm strength
-elite speed
-clutch late game performances
-Ability to convert 3rd and Long
-forces a defense to commit a spy
He’s also currently not effective at all the things a game manager QB does well:
-can’t manage the pocket
-inaccurate at short range
-slow at processing the field
-doesn’t adjust protection or plays effectively
-terrible mechanics
-gets behind the sticks
The good news is that with a commitment to development and solid coaching he can improve most of those items, but for now he’s in effect the inverse of Greg McElroy.
It really explains why he’s so polarizing and difficult to understand, which ultimately boils down to him being half of a great QB.

This thread is an advertisement for how little most understand as they watch.
Don't feel bad Crimson, usually when the masses here are against you? You're very much right.
It just takes them a lot of time to realize things and when they finally come along they deny they ever said these things or we ever had these types of threads

He has the physical tools to be a great QB but he’s mentally playing JV ball. The issue is he thinks he’s already arrived at the top of the mountain. He showed us this with the press conferences leading up to rose bowl. If he was the kinda guy who always said “I need to get a lot better” I think he would (eventually) and maybe even next year. His fat little girl friend has him believing he’s Lamar Jackson Jr. with his own clothes brand. He’s even positioned himself with LANK to basically dismiss criticism as hate against him. Hard to get better once you believe you are the best.

If I see the LANK acronym one more time I’m going to throw my remote through my window. Michigan players were mocking him after the game with that stupid L hand gesture. Ty Simpson returning means that 4 is on the hot seat. It’s only a matter of time before there is a change at quarterback.

You don’t think a guy that was named permanent captain is maybe one of the hardest workers on the team?

Kid doesn’t have it between the ears. We easily hit our ceiling with him at QB this year. Not sure why you’re pandering so hard for him, we all have eyeballs.

Saban already said he won the locker room.
He’s definitely the hardest working on his public image and on LANK.

The guy's a troll. He starts and comments in every thread related to Milroe. Clearly he’s a rival fan or media person. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that Milroe has serious flaws as a quarterback.

A wise man once said, when you think you are at the top of the mountain you are really only half way up.
He continues, the climb up the mountain isn’t the hard part, it’s climbing down.
