I understand Mac is the number two man, but without being at practices we really don't know where Tualia stands. Any chance we see Mac and Tualia split time vs. Arkansas?

We better hope that we don't see Lia. If we do, it means something went terribly wrong with Mac

Wasn’t it reported at the beginning of the season that Mac was the clear #2 and while Tualia was the #3 guy he was way behind Mac?

Yes. That’s the report. I don’t burn a redshirt unless I have to. If we can’t beat Arkansas with Mac we’re screwed anyway. If he goes down with injury is the only way we see Taulia.

Tualia may have improved significantly since then. One poster said he's played in 2 games so far. Personally, I'd like to see him get a little playing time in Tua's absence, since he has a couple of games to play in and not waste the rs. Never know. He may be a gamer.

Tualia needs to get 4th quarter snaps vs Arky regardless. Anything can happen and we need to have a viable backup behind Mac.

New rules wouldn't burn his RS on single game

But, yes, if we can't beat Arkansas without Tua, we have much bigger problems.

Frankly, that should be a vote for Tua and the Heisman. He has quality WRs, but all of the haters forget it is his "magic" that has driven the team since he led a comeback win over UGA in the NCG.

Tough kid. Was on fire last year until he started fighting injuries. I love how he has changed his game. Yes, he made a bad throw on the INT vs UT, but made a half dozen other great reads and check downs. I think we all forget how special he is sometimes and revel in the need to bitch about something.

I wish he had some better injury luck for sure. But, I also wish we could figure out the kicking game... so there's that.

Worse than the second half of Saturday?

Um, yes.

Mac is no Tua but discounting the series where he came in after the sack that hurt Tua he led Bama for 5 full possessions.

The first was an eight play 60 yard drive that ended in a missed FG
The second was a three and out
The third was a 10 play 76 yard TD drive
The fourth was a three and out
The fifth was a game ending eight play 5 minute drive to the Vol 7 yard line.

Yes it was Tennessee. No it wasn’t what we are used to seeing, but it wasn’t utter trash either.

Heck, no! Saban is not a panicker. We will stay the course with the quarterback that he has prepared to handle just these types of situations.

Think Delong. In practice, the universe has never seen such a proficient and bodacious punter. Gametime, he was MIA.

If Mac doesn't get that spring ball look about him, Lia could come in and run the show. Who knows who these kids are until the lights shine brightest.

Yep. I would think that if the staff felt like Lia was our second best option this year they would have invested more time getting him ready and gave him more than a couple of snaps over just two games.

Mac had a couple of bad throws, but 88 also dropped a 1st down ball that hit him in the hands. Mac also was about 3 inches off on what would have been a huge play to Najee. I could see Mac having pretty big game agains Arky this weekend. Not Tua-Like but maybe 250 yards and 2-3 TD's. I also expect our run game to really get geared up this week which could pay dividends down the road.

Weren't those drives extended/helped by our running game somewhat gelling?

I'm not worried about Ark either way. They are ranked in run defense a full 33 spots lower than Tennessee, and TN wasn't ranked highly to begin with. We won't need Mac to ball out...he just needs to hand the ball off good as...

Bama fans and the backup QB. Name a more iconic duo.

The trend has only been broken by a generational talent at QB in Tua.

Now the apple of the eye is the backup's backup.

Last time I checked he plays QB, not linebacker. Have you ever seen the beach pics of Brady?

I actually am interested to see Mac in an offense where the entire week is spent knowing that he is going to be starting the game. He'll get a ton of reps this week and the game plan will be more suited to what he does well. It'll be interesting to see.

Tualia does need reps though since he’s currently our no.2.
