Puffer.edu is a project out of Stanford and it provides free network TV over the internet. It is very simple to sign up and use.

It has worked well but I will add that lately, (and this may be a local thing, I don't know) I've seemed to have some issues with lagging and temporary stopping. It has always happened on occasion, but recently it seems to have gotten worse/more frequent. It shouldn't be my internet speed or my network, I pay for high enough speed to handle it and I have a mesh network, so it's either Hulu or Wow!, my internet provider. My gut tells me it's Hulu since it never seems to happen with Netflix and it seems to be worse with shows that would be high viewership. Maybe Hulu is having capacity issues?

Another cool thing about having Hulu Live is you can use your subscription to access the apps for the individual channels in their lineup.

For example, if the ESPN channels are lagging on your Hulu go to the ESPN app instead. You just log in with your Hulu account.

The Youtube TV key plays function is great. If you are recording a game you can go live, start from where you left off or catch up to live with viewing key plays. I'm sure other services have it but I love that function.

Just read on SECRant scoreboard post something I didn't know... but really cool with YouTube TV

quote:

record all NCAA games on YT’s unlimited DVR.

Instead of joining a game live or starting from the beginning, I’m just noticing there is a “catchup” option that gives you all the key plays you missed while you were watching another game.

I’ve been going between both SEC games and haven’t missed any key plays. Pretty cool.

I really like YT TV. The 6 x actts and unlimited storage on all, and some of other features like the above, or the key play" recaps for sports are really cool.

Also I'm sure that many services has similar functions but you can set it to record all games from a particular sport, league or team as well really easily. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get it to record all high school football.

I tried out the Hulu live tv thing last night, but it turns out it won't work with a mobile hotspot, which is basically what I'm using for internet. I decided to go with YouTube Tv instead of sling this year due to the local channels. I've used both in the past, but it looks like youtube has improved a lot since my last go round.

My internet on the other hand is god awful out here. I'm praying Elon Musk gets his Starlink internet up and functioning soon. I'd gotten used to the last 20 years of having real internet in huntsville.

Best thing in my opinion is to just find a relative with a cable or satellite subscription and use their login to watch everything on the channel’s smart tv app or website.

My fiancee’s mother has a spectrum account and my parents have direct tv with nfl ticket. Neither one of them even knows how to do anything other than than watch through the regular box. Between the two we can watch anything we want as far as live tv goes, and we don’t pay a dime.

StreamEast is fabulous but none of them show SEC Network unless it’s a big Alabama football or BB game. Did not show the BB game from last night for instance.
