I believe it is supposed to convey that it is impossible to get to the point where all lives prove to matter if we don't first fix the problem that black lives "don't matter".

Not endorsing or rejecting that sentiment, just noting the reasoning behind it.

I get that, I really do. The video was nicely done and I'm glad the University put it out there.

However, no one seems to protest about black lives mattering until it involves the police or a white person committing the murder.

This is what people should be rioting over:

Chicago girl, 13, is fatally shot in the neck by stray bullet while dancing at home with her mother during bloody Father's Day weekend

quote:

- Amaria Jones was showing her mother a dance move on Saturday night when gunfire erupted outside and a stray bullet came bursting through window

- Lawanda Jones recalled seeing Amaria reaching out with blood gushing from bullet wound in her neck

- Amaria, 13, the youngest of five children, died at the hospital 30 minutes later

- Two boys, 15 and 16, who were outside the house were also shot but survived

- Two hours earlier and just a few blocks away, three-year-old Mekhi James was fatally shot while riding in backseat of her father's car

- More than 100 people were shot in Chicago, 14 fatally, between Friday and Monday; four of the deceased were children

quote:

The shooting that claimed the 13-year-old's life also injured two teenage boys who were sitting on the porch outside Jones' home.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the left leg and a 15-year-old suffered a wound in the lower back. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made in connection to Amaria's death.

Her mother, who lost a nephew to gun violence a year ago, called on the person to took Amaria's life to come forward.

I believe we all WANT black lives to matter as much as any other race. But that can't happen if they continue to ignore the murders their own community commits against themselves.

It's not shite. I'm telling you why people have an issue with the saying "Black Lives Matter" just like George explained the post I replied to.

We do have members of other fan bases who can post here.

I've seen some on the Rant already jealous of the potential impact on recruiting this video will have.

Which is what this all comes down to. All of these coaches/programs are coming out and are trying to out-woke the other.

Let me know when they start making videos and marching for children like the one I posted. Until then it is nothing more than lip service.

Par for the course. There's the "University of Alabama," and then there's "Alabama."

One, people respect and revere. The other, well, just look at the education and economic data. Whatever UA is at football, the state in those categories is the contrapositive.

Not sure what to tell someone that can't differentiate people being killed by law enforcement sworn to protect and serve and people being killed by other citizens. While both are tragic and senseless, one perpetuates a perception that those lives are deemed unworthy by the state and system.

So black lives don't matter when another citizen kills them, just police?

Makes sense and accurately portrays the lack of riots and protests.

That could work until you take into consideration the police kill more white people annually than blacks.

ETA: Just realized you used the word PERCEPTION. Because that's exactly what it is. Not actuality, perception.

Like I said, I'm not sure what to tell you. The difference is right there, and I didn't even mention how infrequently law enforcement are held accountable for it.

And? Are you saying that if you don't support BLM the organization that you don't think the lives of black folks matter? Because that'd be fricking ridiculous.

So in essence, if a white or Hispanic person is killed by the police their life doesn't matter either?

Do you see where the term "All Lives Matter" could be used in those situations and not be viewed as racist?

It appears the one good thing to come from all this is this will hopefully no longer be the case.

No, I'm saying the phrase wasn't co-opted by the BLM organization. The movement coined the phrase, and 99.9% of the people that are part of the movement support the organization.

You can definitely support the black lives matter sentiment without supporting the organization or movement.
