The transfer portal has essentially become free agency for college football, and the big dogs will almost always be the benefactors.

All three of our tranferees will be instant stars this year and upgrades over the players that they're replacing. One and done stars that set the table for the 2023 class, which will be star studded.

Correct - they all fill specific spots, don't screw up the roster, don't screw up recruiting and are perfect stop gaps that fit exactly what we want.
It's just unbelievable how damn good Nick Saban is at whatever the challenge put before him is.

Jermaine Burton is a better John Metchie. He's a really good player. I'm excited as hell to have him in our program. Obviously can't wait to see Ricks, who is an obvious upgrade over Jobe and Gibbs, who is a dynamic running back. Hopefully our coaches put all of these guys in position to succeed. This team should be aiming for a championship.

Yea I dunno about better John Metchie, but he has a lot of Metchie in his game. I think he's faster than Metchie, but he has a lot of big catches to make to equal Metchie.
He will definitely fill that role this coming season, though, and quite well I think.

I think one of the worse things that anyone can do is comparing a player to our former player.
I don't think Alabama is looking to bring Burton to play Metchie role. Alabama just needs someone to play the X spot role well. That's it. Burton is a special player that can make lot of noise this fall under offense that likes to throw ball often compared to Georgia.
I cringe when I hear someone compare a player to a former player and that ain't it.

Comparing Burton to Metchie =/= saying Herb Jones is a retard and then doubling down on it while he inches closer to making the NBA All-Rookie Team.
Or saying Saban should retire.
