Alabama has an off night, for this seasons at least, with a counted fall on beam and a low on vault...... and still gets the win vs Kentucky.

No rest for the weary, the Tide take to the road to play Illinois on Sunday.

After the Friday meet against Kentucky, Bama traveled to Illinois for another meet today (not a quad meet as I had incorrectly indicated earlier). Despite a program record high score on bars to start the meet, Bama faltered down the stretch but managed to stay just above the 197.0 mark. Azaraya Ra-Akbar’s 10 on the bars was the highlight of the day.

The No. 3 Alabama gymnastics team (9-4) defeated Illinois (4-12), 197.125-196.175, Sunday afternoon in Huff Hall. The Crimson Tide's uneven bars rotation highlighted the day, as the squad recorded a program-record 49.700 score, spearheaded by a perfect 10.000 from freshman Azaraya Ra-Akbar.

Ra-Akbar's perfect routine, and the Tide's first since the 2024 season, gave her five event titles this season on the uneven bars and marked the first 10.000 on bars by a UA gymnast since program alum Makarri Doggette in 2023. Entering Sunday, the Tide's 49.700 rotation score ranks second nationally and leads the Southeastern Conference.

Individually, Gabby Gladieux returned to the all-around, tallying a 39.500 to claim her fifth all-around title of the year. Gladieux also won vault with a season-high 9.925 to give her a team-leading 13 event titles this season. Jamison Sears' 9.925 on the floor exercise rounded out Alabama's individual event winners.

Good luck tonight, ladies. Would be nice to see a good score. Hopefully the crowd shows up despite basketball playing at same time. I can’t make it to this one. RTR

Lost in the head to head vs UGA. Scored in the mid 197's while two other SEC teams scored in the low 198's.

Vault and beam continue to be the undoing of this team. Consistently scoring in the 197’s throughout the season is a marked improvement for the program (one of only two teams to accomplish this), so that’s the positive I’ll take away for this year. Still a ways to go before being able to rack up the 198’s needed to compete for a National Championship.

Maybe 5 meets in 14 days or whatever it was wasn't the best idea.

Sadly, the scores have gone backwards the last 3 or 4 meets on vault and beam. Unfortunately, they seem to be their own worst enemy.

Man I just wish this program would get back to being a championship level program. It is still great but missing that last little bit of juice.

I'm really disappointed in the judges scoring for our gymnast. Terrible scores for Gabby and Jamison tonight. I know I am biased for, but they are more so biased against Bama.

Still in 4th place after 3. More than half a point. LSU and UF within .175 of OU.

Sadly, 4th is where we all know they're going to finish. We also know beam and vault are their downfall, although some of our ace competitors didn't have it tonight either.

Another 197+. But not good enough against the best in the country.
