Upon further thought. This year would be a perfect year for Saban to move on after winning a championship. He may be ready to have more time with Grandkids but he would still need a challenge. Maybe taking a more active role and expanding his automotive group. That's always been an area of interest to him.

He would be leaving the next guy set up for success and another title with Tua coming back. Get this years recruiting class in and then make the announcement.

My choice would be Tosh. Locksely doesn't have the energy. Maybe Enos, but he was a head coach before and is a better coordinator. Tosh could win a championship his 1st year and recruiting would keep on rolling.

I think for family reasons Saban would stay in the area and still have a presence in some capacity. Maybe a part-time consultant to the AD. Never know it could happen. He would never let on if he was going to do something like this.

Stoops was a shocker and kind of out of the blue as well.

How many of you would take a NC this year if it meant for sure Saban would leave/retire? I think I would take a hard pass on that. These last 10-12 years have been a blast. Hate to see it end

I have always thought 2020 will be his final year.

Remember, this is the same guy that bucked at Richt.

To be fair, Pruitt was actually right in that situation. He wanted an indoor practice facility to rival what other schools had.

His approach needed a little work though.

I don’t think Saban leaving nessasarly means it has to end. Even he himself probably can’t keep up the unprecedented pace but it can still be damn good.

The organization he has built does not disappear overnight if he leaves. Stay true to his process and no reason Alabama doesn’t stay a perennial top 5 program competing for championships most years.

I find it hard to believe anyone would be upset if we hired Dabo. With Saban gone, Dabo becomes the best coach in college football, so we go on another 10-15 year run with another GOAT.

I’m in on Dabo

I'd sure like to know who anyone would think is more qualified.

List is very short, and scary after Dabo.

Dabo is the 2nd best coach in college football. When Saban retires, he’s 1st. Who wouldn’t want the best coach in CFB?

The academia nuts and bored anarchists who would rather lose with a loser just to enjoy pain and suffering.

By the way, I think we're closer to the end of the Saban era than most of us believe. A NC win this year breaks Coach Bryant's record...
