When you consider the pressure of every drive they faced, especially in the 2nd half, that was as good a defensive performance as we've put on the field since the 2017 Clemson game. Regardless of how challenged Auburn was offensively.

I really want to love what we are doing defensively. But it seems we can’t find consistency game to game. Or even within a game. Regardless, it was one hell of a performance last Saturday.

It's going to be a war Saturday. Need to put together a complete game.

Meh. Backup QB, that was hobbled, and poor play calling by Auburn had lots to do with that.
Not saying Bo Nix would have been much better, since Finley threw some quality passes, like the OT touchdown pass.

Our safeties played one of their best games of the season. Harris had a big TFL. Toes continues to build momentum. KoolAid has brought some juice. (see what I did there ?) Turner emerging as a legitimate pass rusher opposite Anderson has been huge. But probably more so than anything Tim Smith, Mathis, and Young really stepping their game up in that jumbo nickel has been a savior.

Theyre peaking at the right time. If we could just get one good game from our OL somehow Bama could seriously win the SEC, and take a big huge shite in the uga cheerios

I'm not sure how on frickin earth you can meh a game in which basically every possession the entire second half equated to

"Auburn starts their drive on the Alabama side of the field and if they gain more than 10 yards the game is basically over"

If you play Mercer or New Mexico State and are given that situation it's a difficult task, led alone an Auburn team with a NFL running back. And Finley wasn't hobbled until late in the game.

That was an all-time nuts on the table we aren't losing this fvckin game performance from those guys on defense.

With all that said, it would be entirely on brand for us to show up on Saturday and look like we've never seen a bunch formation and have 3 TDs against us where we have 4 guys covering the slot receiver.

Whats the metric that predicts the win percentage of a game based on every statistic except the final score? "Game control" maybe?

How often does a team hold an opponent to 2.41 yards per play and outgain them by 220 yards but have to rally to win?

Tim Smith, Mathis, and Young

LaBryan Ray has really come on strong as well. He’s played a lot better than I expected he would this year, and made some nice plays vs. Aub.

Tim Smith IMO should have been on the field more over DJ Dale months ago. He causes much more havoc up the middle and has pass rush potential that Dale just doesn’t have.

I’ve been saying since last year Byron Young is a good player, but doesn’t get near enough opportunities. This year he has and he has produced. This guy is underrated as hell IMO and will have a good NFL career.

Let’s hope this unit has a stellar performance on Saturday - it’s absolutely crucial we don’t lose on both lines of scrimmage.

Expected win percentage maybe? We had an expected win % of like 85%, I think.

We kind of progressed on offense as the game went by

* 1st Half - total trainwreck, can't gain any yards

* Most of 3rd Qtr - moving ball, gaining yards, can't finish drives (4th down stop, bobbled FG)

* 4th Qtr and OT - move ball at will, score most drives

It was a weird dynamic LOL

Can't say this enough. Due to injuries it was basically 3 pass rushers vs 5 olineman. Now that both sides of the dline have legitimate rushers its opening everything up.

You’re exactly right. I’ve been critical if this defense all season but this was their best game by far. Yes one can look at Auburn’s shortcomings but our guys played much better fundamentals in the game. They tackled better, they covered better, they didn’t take bad angles to the tackle, they were aggressive in pursuit.
Sure doesn’t seem impressive on the surface but remember these guys were burned by Mercer and New Mexico State more than was expected a few weeks ago.

The offense AU ran against Bama looked like Lester Miles was the OC. A QB that couldn't hurt you running and no elite WR. Other than two really good RB's and TE that can play a little you think the Barn offense like Lester's or Coach Stallings. Nick's defensive scheme should have done well against the barn.

Kind of a passing swipe at Coach Stallings?

No Sir. Then again you might not remember Mal's and Coach Stallings offense.

Yeah it was very simple. It was good practice for our guys in the fundamentals without having to think too much. Another thing I've come to believe is this group of players are fragile mentally. Many of them haven't been in the system long and we all know Coach Saban's system is not the easiest to learn. It takes a while for most guys to get the system down and perform without having to think too much.
