Some dude on BOL posted there were rumblings of Chad Thomas flipping to Bama from Miami

Chad Thomas is a force.

Very unlikely Chad Thomas leaves Miami though. Getting him and Da'shawn Hand? Crazy.

If any of you cats and kittens are looking for something to do tonight, Green Bar at 9:30. I'm hosting, Richard Douglas Jones from Memphis is headlining. Gonna be a great show.

a few posts from an LSU poster on the SECr on Coker:

quote:

I saw him at St Paul's his whole career and I always liked him better than AJ's as a QB. I believe he and Winston played against each other in the playoffs at St Paul's one year and I clearly thought Jacob was the Better QB. AJ may have a slightly better arm but was a horrible runner and Jacob has incredible instincts. AJ looked 180 lbs with pads and Jacob is a big strong kid.

Jacob was a three star because he only played football for three years or so. He was actually better known as a basketball player at St Paul's until his last year or so. I believe just like Winston was (to me and many people) a better baseball player.

The story goes is that we didn't have a QB after AJ so they basically just went to Jacob in 9th or 10th grade and ask him if he could play QB. (Just like the 10th grade we have now I believe) He was that good of an athlete. And he was very very close in QB race to Winston.

He will have a full two years eligibility left, as he is graduating. He wants to play in the SEC and will need to be seriously competing for a starting job.

Great highly intelligent and athletically gifted young man, and he will do well wherever he goes. I would think Bama or UGA would be his best options at this point.

Kid is better than anyone Bama has on the rooster and it is not close.

Coker is more accurate than Winston. Winston gets saved a lot by those great NFL receivers he has.

Thought his take was interesting

I think he would be make our offense more dynamic with his running ability.

I watched Coker quite a bit in high school as well. He has noticeably better arm strength than A.J. He can really drive the ball.

Makes sense, considering Nuss's background at UDub.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here but does anyone else think Nick is holding off on signing that extension so he can have a "Wow!" moment in front of all the 5-star talent visiting?

I heard through the grapevine, from as solid of a source out there, that our coaches asked AJ to call Coker. I don't want to say "done deal" but there's about a 95% chance he comes to Alabama.

I was hoping for Cornwell. O well. We would be better next year with Coker.

Cornwell has not played enough football to win the starting job as a true freshman. His battle will be with town. Coker would be a great guy to have in the transition

This really sets up perfectly. Assuming everyone stays committed, we would have Coker start for two years, Cornwell start for two years, and town start for two years.

Coker will probably have some stiff competition from LDR and Bateman.
