You are exactly right but at the same time recruiting has a "script" every year that guys like Scalici or Scarbo write about. If we are going to let Auburn beat us for the 5-10 ranked guys in state then why then hell take the nobody from Hillcrest?
He is a pretty solid LB especially in coverage, could be a key piece to defending the spread O in the future...you'll be happy with him later on, this class is full of ridiculous talentPosted on 11/23/13 at 9:04 am to BuccWildBammer
Meh. People say that about the couple of "where did that guy come from?" out of the blue recruits we take every year. Doesn't change the fact that Vinnie is really the only one who has ever become a major contributor.

Yep and Vinnie had a very niche role, mostly keeping Landon off the field.

...and Holcombe is the same mold as Vinny.........THANK YOU FELLAS for proving my point without even meaning too hehe

So can we already say he "tries hard" and jokingly call him "the honkey badger"?

In terms of Pettway, everyone likes a redemption story. Nobody likes to give out the grace that it takes to make a redemption story happen. I hope that if he is let back on the team, he has very strict guidelines to follow. I just think that maybe he can get his life back on track. Twenty years old is much too young to write him off. We don't know the end to this story. Perhaps we will look back on this as one of Saban's biggest mistakes. Or maybe Pettway turns his life around, plays in the league for a few years, and then dedicates his life to helping at risk youth. Maybe the grace we show him today will make him a better man tomorrow.
I know it will look bad if it happens, and I'm prepared to take a leave from the SECr until the shitstorm blows over.
I am not necessarily for it, but there should not be a shitstorm anywhere. It's not like Saban did not kick him out with swiftness. He was punished to the full extend a program can punish a player. His arse was kicked off the team.
For his part, if he is willing to own the fact that he was a punk that night and apologize to all those he impacted (especially the victims) I will respect him more for coming back than just running off to the open arms of one of the many schools that have laid out the red carpet for him. I think we should remember that, for him, coming back to Bama is harder in some ways than starting over somewhere else.
This is assuming a high level of contrition (which I would like to see some evidence of before getting "on board"), if he just wants to come back to Bama because he liked it here, frick that.

he is being mentioned as an NFL draft pick. We just happen to have a lot of good safeties right now and will be interesting to see the pecking order next year if Haha comes back

I don't think they have to worry about HaHa next year

Christian Miller is en route to Tuscaloosa.

Is Christian Miller's mom en route with him? Because she is who we are recruiting at this point.

He was probably always a long shot, but I could have seen him possibly in the league. His wheels are his least strong asset though and with the ACL injury I think his shot may be longer as usually you lose a little after the injury.
We will get a pretty good look next year.

Would be shocked if he or Cyko come back.

I could actually see Cyrus coming back. He has been good this year, but not top 5 draft pick good. Chance made him look better than he was last season. But some NFL team might love his upside so much that they take him in the top 10 anyway. HaHa has maxed out his stock. The only thing he could accomplish by coming back is completely beasting during his senior season and moving up 6 or 7 spots. Safeties just don't get top 15 grades very often. Going 12th overall rather than 18th overall isn't worth the risk of injury though.

If anyone drafts Sunseri, they are making a big mistake.

Unless you are an NFL scout, STFU.

Sunseri will get drafted
I agree with Santa. Cyrus should come back, and it wouldnt surprise me if he did. Our line would be so sick next year if he did.

Only similarity I see is they're not black.
I will say I don't understand how some of you are happy some people decommit and wouldn't jump at Holcome following suit. I know I would. He isn't a necessity and he wouldn't be ready to make an impact for years.
I hope he gets the grey shirt so another spot opens up.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Robinson next year, especially if Cyrus comes back. As talented as he seems to be, I would think he will get some playing time.
