Tweet from 5-star DE Da'Shawn Hand who just wrapped up his OV to Florida and will commit to one of UA, Florida, or Michigan on Thursday- "It's sucks that all 3 schools are great. Hardest decision of my life!! Can't wait til Thursday!"

Did Hand watch a different Florida game yesterday?

Florida is a dumpster fire.

I saw this on BOL and thought it was pretty interesting....

I got to chat with a few folks who work close to the program on the quad. As always, trust Lucky, Tim, Charles and staff's intel over rumor but here is what I got:

"Humphrey- there may be smoke, but its games. He sees teams pick on #13 and #5 and knows he'll get a shot early."

"Elam is ours. He will drag it out, but this is a classic case of 'hometown hero doesnt want to hurt anybody's feelings'. He cant wait to get to bama and cant wait til signing day to get the stress behind him."

"Staff believes they have one 'upset' get in this class." When pressed he wouldnt say who, but hinted they were commited elsewhere, and the staff feels good about the flip.

Also added what staff here have said previous- dont assume we only take 5 more: numbers are going to move around alot between now and signing day. Also said they have a guy lower rated on the crooting sites that they think is a diamond in the rough and are making a priority.

TL:DR- my guy thinks Elam and Marlon are locks, and the staff has a high profile flip they are accounting for in "the plan".

Never mind. Monty beat me to it. But he didn't add this part:

quote:

Oh yeah- he said Hand to michigan and carter to uga.

I'm surprisingly ok with this.

Wonder if Marcyls Jones might be the upset flip.

Me too. I feel bad that Hand will play on a few 8-4 teams and probably go through a coaching change during his college career though. Seems like a good kid. If academia is his thing he should have looked at Stanford.

And Carter apparently has all of his coaches in his ear about UGA on a daily basis. We never had a chance. He just skipped out on the biggest game of the weekend to watch UGA play an FCS team.

Maybe, but the atmosphere at a big state school is undoubtedly different than a private school like Stanford. Michigan at worst is a decent team and he would be playing in on national tv fairly regularly. Also, they are better academically at least as far as perception goes. It isn't terribly hard to see why someone would choose Michigan.

I'll be okay with it only if we land Evans. We need another elite pass rusher in this class. I'd prefer Evans over the other two, but I would take any of them.

Speaking of Rashaan Evans, someone just posted this on BOL:

quote:

Thread title: Rashaan Evans

Post: He will play for Alabama next yr ijs. Tell me I was right later.

I don't recognize the poster, but in response to his post another guy said this:

quote:

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the info and you were spot on about Foster so I know you know your stuff. +10000000000000000000

I assume he is talking about Reuben.

Fwiw A'Shawn becomes an elite rusher if Elam is clogging up the damn middle and Pagan and add in some of the pieces that we've landed recently like Jon Allen

Evans is an other-worldly talent in our scheme though

Right now though as a combination of football and academics Alabama trumps Michigan and Florida no reason for those programs to be this bad.

Football definitely. We are improving academically every year, but Florida and especially Michigan are both more well regarded in terms of academics.

I just see absolutely no reason any player would ever go play in the Big 10. It hasn't been relevant for years and doesn't appear to be returning to relevance any time soon. The only Big 10 game anyone outside of the Rust Belt gives a shite about is Ohio State-Michigan.

Agreed. It's amazing how quickly the Big Ten has dropped below the PAC 12, Big 12, and ACC in terms of visibility and relevance the last 5 years. Like you said, if I were a really smart top prospect right now, Stanford over Michigan would be a no brainer IMO

I kinda feel bad for him a bit...he has been recruited and like it has been mentioned on here there are issues with some 1st yr players with Hoke and he goes on his OV to UF's HC game and sees the worst loss in 3 decades at UF

And he isn't interested in picking Bama it seems

Rashaan Evans attended the game with his parents and brother.

He sees that we need a pass rusher.
