Lots and lots of people on message boards claimed he was a 1st round lock and would never enroll in college...mainly Our own fan base when it looked like we weren't going to get him. One of those things where someone on the Internet said it and it became accepted as true after it was repeated enough times.
Whether his talent in baseball had any effect on our staff's approach toward him? I don't know.

I think him playing baseball in college was a much bigger deal than him getting drafted.

MOBILE, Alabama - St. Paul's has called an athletic-related press conference for 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Head football coach Steve Mask wouldn't comment on the topic of the news conference, but sources tell AL.com that four-star linebacker Tre Williams is ready to make his college commitment.
The 6-foot-2, 217-pound Williams originally said he wanted to commit at the Under Armour All-America Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., in January, but indications are that time table has been moved up.
As previously reported, Williams' top five has been Alabama, Auburn, Southern Cal, Ole Miss and Florida - in no particular order.
Wednesday's press conference will be held in the library.

When Kentucky fans were bragging about 3-4 guys in the backfield and Taylor wasn't one, I knew it didn't mean well for him.
