At times yes but also things like homeopathy and in China, Chinese medicine are huge in certain countries like India and China.
2 months ago in India, the prime minister and plenty of other politicians and celebrities were telling people go out shoot fireworks and clap their hands because creating “good energy” will kill the virus

I was in a Walmart yesterday and it was a zoo. One older gentleman screamed at a young woman and child, both with no mask, to stop crowding him during checkout. He yelled at her "GET BACK, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU"? The younger lady apologized and both immediately moved back. Another older lady, without a mask, standing behind me in line kept crowding us and was not acknowledging the 2-foot rule much less 6. So I asked the lady, "did you not hear what the older gentlemen just screamed out at the top of his voice"? Her response, "he wasn't talking to me." I had to literally tell this older lady, "well, I am, please get back."
Serious question: Where do you live? I've been in several Wal-Marts in central Alabama (as well as Publix, Target, and other grocery / superstores) in recent months and haven't seen anything like this behavior. It's been just the opposite -- people are keeping their distance, wearing masks (for the most part), etc.
The one thing that doesn't happen in general is following the one-way signs for aisles. People just don't do that overall.

I tried, but I don’t hardly know where anything is, so I was walking all over the place. It did more harm than good, since I was passing more people

They do at my Publix for the most part. I go at least once a week and rarely see anyone going opposite of the arrows. I actually wish they'd implement one way aisles all the time. Makes shopping so much more pleasant not having to avoid and maneuver around people coming the opposite way.
No idea on the local Walmart. Haven't step foot in there in several years.

UAB now has 101 patients currently in the hospital being treated for COVID-19. This appears to be the most that they've had at a single time. According to UAB, "... 101 patients means 101 patients receiving in-hospital, bed-specific care. These are patients who are either very sick, unable to get better, or potentially survive without medical attention and care."

Shockingly people have been doing the above in both the Walmarts I’ve been to too

Well, this part isn't really accurate.
Asians wear masks if they have even the remotest suspicion they might be sick. In just about any Asian crowd before the pandemic, you would see many, many people wearing masks. Asking all of them to don one is no big deal, because courtesy about illness is drilled into them culturally. It is culturally unthinkable for most far eastern Asians to risk getting another person sick.
In the US it is culturally expected that if your flight is delayed, female passengers will beat the shite out of a gate attendant with metal signs and shoes. Courtesy died here.

I did this the first few times after they started one way aisles but then I just started at one end of the store and worked my way across before going around the outside for meat and produce. You end up going down 4 or 5 aisles you don't need to, but it's ultimately a lot faster than trying to go back and forth only to find yourself at the wrong end of an aisle a dozen times.

You mean the science they broadcast that said it couldn't be transmitted between humans?
Or does only some Asian science count?

I've always shopped for groceries like this - go to the back of the store and zig-zag the aisles back to the front.
Quite possibly the first time in my life I've been ahead of a trend.

The list of companies requiring a mask is growing. Publix, Walmart, CVS, Best Buy, Kroger, Fresh Market, Costco, Sams. We no longer live in a democratic republic, we live in a corporatocracy.

I haven't run into it that much either. But I've been staying out of these places for much longer intervals the longer this stuff goes on. I was in Lagrange Georgia trying to pick up a few things in the morning and stopped at Walmart on the way out. The place was getting packed and therein was most of the problem. I seriously doubt half the folks had on a mask and they had 3 checkout registers open which compounded the congested exit traffic. So when I got home and heard Walmart's new mask policy starting Monday, it felt like a great idea that is long overdue. No mask, no service. We all should be able to live with that.

All these have been in our state even some before the state mandate.
Best Buy does curb side pickup and will only allow a few customers at a time in and only 1 per department here.

Seeing a disturbing trend of schools already deciding to go virtual despite the studies and literature coming out of Europe and elsewhere showing that not only are children largely unaffected, but don’t act as a significant medium for transmission of the virus. Probably only a matter of time before our district follows suit (Shelby County). Which means we’re back to forcing working parents out of a job to attempt to teach their young kids via shitty, clunky, virtual programming.
frick this. Seriously considering job hunting out of country.

The school question is complicated but I don't think you can look at Europe and ignore that we are in a very different situation. Their studies took place in a environment of controlled, traced and rapidly decreasing infections.

Spin all the numbers you want, but it is disconcerting to see not only the virus numbers dwindle to zero in this heat, but to see them actually rise.
And I have no reason to understand the reason of the disparity between Europe and the US other than possibly the heat and humidity actually helps the virus spread.
It can't be just for masks/ lack of masks, considering how most people wear them
