That game will still be hell imo.

Yes, I think the crazy start to SEC play just put the fan base in a trance and we expected them to destroy everyone, which is rarely ever the case in basketball. Hell, Virginia lost to a 16 seed two seasons ago. Even the AD Kentucky team lost in the championship game when they were undefeated the entire season up until that point.

Yea, Auburn will play hard, but I think at home we shut them down a little more. Petty seems to go off more at home, but I could be entirely wrong.

Being the last game of the regular season, could potentially see the starters playing limited minutes as well.

Maybe but we’re getting a 10 day break between Auburn and the SECT. I’d hate to lose at home and be in danger of dropping to a 3 seed

If the conference is wrapped up by then, i'd rather not run Herb/Petty out there for 30-35 minutes or Reese/Bruner for 25 just because.

Let those guys play half of those minutes (except Bruner if he needs the reps to get back to full speed) and give guys like KAH, Gary and Miles the extended minutes, because you never know if you will need one of those guys to give you a solid ten minutes one night come tourney time.

They should honestly just let Bruner sit till the SEC tourney to get him warmed back up for the NCAA.

No, he needs to get back in playing shape for the tournament. He's going to be really rusty for the first few games he's back.

What's the word on Gary's injury? Seemed like he was in a lot of pain.

Stanford had the longest team I remember us facing this year. Have they been missing guys because it doesn’t make sense they’ve been as bad as they’ve been. Maybe a lot of the pac 12 is long so they can’t take advantage like they did vs us

They haven't released any info on what the actual injury is other than saying it's a shoulder and he's doubtful for tomorrow.

Yeah, pretty sure they've had multiple guys miss multiple games.

They have had guys missing plus were on the road for like 60 + days, living out of hotels because they couldn't play games at home because of Covid rules.

Ala -14 UGa

can't imagine it staying that high. Ala has not covered 3 of the last 4.

Alabama forward Juwan Gary will miss Saturday’s game against Georgia with a shoulder injury.

The redshirt freshman suffered the injury early in the first half of the South Carolina game, which was his first career start, and Gary was re-evaluated this week, coach Nate Oats said.

“They looked at everything. No surgery needed,” Oats said Friday. “It’s just a matter of how quickly he can get through rehab. Probably a couple weeks, maybe a little longer. It was pretty bad. I mean, the injury wasn’t good. Some stuff was messed up there. He’s still super sore. But it’s gonna depend on how quickly he can get through rehab.

“He won’t be available for the next few games, at least.”

In addition to Gary, graduate student forward Jordan Bruner will miss his ninth game in row with a meniscus injury. Senior wing Herbert Jones, who has played through a back injury since Jan. 23, still hasn’t practiced but has participated in game-speed workouts. Jones will be evaluated in Saturday morning’s shootaround to decide the plan of action for the injured star.

Will Jones sit a game in order to get some rest and try to get his back close to 100-percent? That was a topic that came up during Oats’ discussion with Alabama’s seniors on Friday.

With Juwan out, with Bruner out, it’d be hard to sit Herb just with our depth and everything,” Oats said. “And I mean, we’re trying to win the league. We’re only two-thirds of the way through the league. We’ve got a third of the league season yet to go. We’ve got to push through and try to win this. The other thing is playing doesn’t set him back any further. Only if he takes like a hard fall, which is why we’ve been keeping him out of practice, live stuff. But getting out, doing game-speed drills and all that, none of that sets him back. We talked about it. It’s just hard. These teams are good.

“Herb’s arguably our best player. He told me before he’s probably closer to 40 percent. Now he’s maybe approaching 70 percent, which it would be great to get him to 100, but sitting him out for a week doesn’t guarantee that that’s gonna get him to 100. If he plays and he doesn’t take a hard fall, he’s gonna be just as good the next day as if he didn’t play. Juwan being out is gonna make it a little harder.”

Yea I'd guess it settles around -10/11. Georgia backdoor covered against Tennessee at a similar line.

I haven't yet had this feeling since the SEC schedule started, but I really don't have a great feeling about tomorrow's game. I know UGA isn't very good, but with the way we've been playing, without Gary or Bruner, a banged up Jones that hasn't really been himself the last couple of games, it just feels like we're due for losing a game we should easily win. I watched their game the other night, and UGA ran a press in the 2nd half that gave UT fits. Wouldn't be surprised to see them do that to us to wear us out, and given our lack of ball handlers.

If we go into that game with a shot at the last 1 seed or a top 2 seed I would rather not risk it just to have a few starters sit an extra 10 or 15 minutes. They have 8 days between that game and the conference tournament for them to rest.

You're not going to know that for sure on March 2nd either way.

Mike Rodak - @mikerodak

Greg Byrne asked about Coleman Coliseum renovation/replacement. “We do absolutely understand that it has to be a priority” and recognized “momentum” with basketball program.

"We do have to have a financial model that works long-term."
