I’m all for risking mediocre to be successful, so if we make a change, I won’t be mad about it. That said, I’d be surprised if we do much better.
I think women’s basketball is the worst position we have to offer. It’s the one sport that has big support elsewhere and very little support here.

Eh maybe. I mean if you have watched Shelton play and are blown away by the quality, I’ll take your word for it. If this is just based on record in JuCo, I don’t think that necessarily translates. There are great FCS coaches who suck even one step up in G5.
To quote Uncle Verne, there are few truths in an uncertain world, but here’s one- the SEC ain’t JuCo

espn article on 5 stars staying until they are seniors featuring Petty.

NEXT WEEK - If we win the next 2, we could clinch next week. At 13-1, everyone with 5 losses would be done with 4 remaining. We play the last game next Wednesday night, all teams chasing us play Tues night, so we should know prior to it starting. Is it wrong to cut the nets down in east Texas?
11-1 Ala > UGA, @ A&M
7-4 LSU > vs Tenn, vs Aub
7-4 Tenn > @ LSU, vs SCar
7-4 Ark @ Miz, vs Fla
6-4 Fla @ Ark, vs UGa
6-4 Miz vs Ark, @ UGA

i think Cecil or someone said chances to play TAMU are slim.

That would give Bama a week to heal up.

That's literally all it says in the Commissioner's Regulations regarding the regular season championship.

My interpretation is that he is saying "winning percentage". I.e., Bama's 14-4, is higher than say UT's 13-4. That's why the postponed games matter.

I agree, and think that's what we have to assume without any additional information.
If I'm looking at this right, that means we really don't want the A&M game to be postponed, unless they also postpone against Arkansas, because it could give us a 1% safety factor.
If Arkansas wins their remaining games, including against us, they'd end up at 13-4 (.765).
If we won the next three but lost the remainder to Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Auburn, we'd be 14-4 (.777), still outright conference champions.
If Texas A&M is postponed against us (but not Arkansas), in that scenario we'd be 13-4 (.765), or co-champions with Arkansas, right?
Obviously this is a reach, but still.

We're not pulling in a good women's coach until we have a new arena to sell. Just the facts. It's different than men's, because there's a history of some success and support. Plus the money is much better. The women's program hasn't made the tournament since 1999. Then factor in playing in an empty arena in Coleman.
Byrne could probably go out and get a better coach, but he won't have many selling points for the coach. Curry is probably here until Coleman is renovated.

That sucks too because when he does return, he's going to take some time to get used to being back in game shape.
Maybe we'll get some luck and he'll return for one more year. It's highly doubtful, but he could want to improve his draft stock.
All that said, been impressed with Reese lately. Obviously Bruner offers more in the paint, but considering Reese's limitations, he's played well.

The Insider guy over on the Rivals forum said the Arkansas game is the target for Bruner

I hope whoever the jackass is - from whatever other site was referenced - that said Bruner was supposed to be back on February 6th for the Missouri game has the hiccups for the next six months.

Is that the same one that previously said Missouri?

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Bruner doesn't play another minute of regular season basketball. Seems like he has been "a few weeks away" for a couple of weeks now, which is pretty concerning. I don't think Oats is the type to suggest that he's still weeks away from being ready and then play him 48 hours later.

At this point I'm going to be happy if we can just get him back by the SEC Tournament.

The initial timetable was 4-6 weeks. Today is exactly 4 weeks so i'm not too worried. Much better to take the 6 weeks than to come back too early, tweak it and lose him for the year.
I just hope that he has a smooth transition back into the lineup and that he is able to play the rest of the season without it being a hindrance.

They should honestly just let Bruner sit till the SEC tourney to get him warmed back up for the NCAA. Don’t think we need him to finish undefeated. The offense is due to score a lot of points in some of these remaining games, especially against the weaker teams in the league. The only games that really scare me are Arkansas and State. Auburn is dookie now that teams know how to defend cooper.

Since Bruner was injured in that UK game we are 6-2.
Both losses were on the road to top 15 teams by a combined 8 points.
You could even include the UK game to say 7-2 since Herb missed 75% and Bruner missed 25% of that game.
JQ and Rojas each missed some of those games as well iirc.
That's pretty damn crazy and a testament to how great of a job the staff has done and how well others have stepped up.
