I think I want Ark to beat Miz tomorrow. Miz's schedule to close is the easiest outside the season closer at Fla (A&m, OM, SCar, UGa). Ark has Ala, Fla and Miz left (& A&M, Scar)

We’ve invested plenty into basketball since Byrne got here, and I’m confident he’ll get the job done.
At any school that plays a semblance of big time college football, football should be and is going to be the priority. It is what it is.

Yeah and LSU over UT. UT ends with Carolina, Kentucky, @Vandy, @Auburn

You can say that just like I can say it's a damn shame that Alabama has one of the worst arenas in the entire conference.

Honestly they should have started the moment that it became clear that basketball games would only be held at limited capacity. Its going to be at least 20 months in between normal basketball games in Coleman and they had already released the renderings for the renovations. I know the BJCC was being renovated but some combination of Fosters, Bartow, Von Braun, Samford, etc. could have been worked out. But as Roll Bama Roll said, its simply not a priority.

are basketball injuries to this degree normal?

Look I want an arena as much as the next guy, and I think we’re going to get it.
Sky screaming about football though is just asinine. When the football team brings in more in profit than the basketball team does in revenue, of course it’s going to be the top priority.
Byrne has been willing to spend enough on basketball that the team barely broke even in 2019. That’s a much more significant investment than we’ve seen in the past.

Yes and no.
Take Herb out of the picture and everything is pretty normal.
Bruner - knee
Reese - knee/leg
Gary - shoulder
Tchikou - achilles
All of those injuries are pretty common. The only thing that stands out at all is that they are all teammates. Sometimes teams have to deal with more injuries than others. While it is certain that injuries can occur more with teams that have substandard medical, health, training staffs - I truly don't believe that is our issue. It's just a bit of bad luck imo.
Tchikou blew his achilles on non contact in practice. Same thing happened to Kevin Durant - shite happens.
Bruner tore his meniscus on non contact during a game - it sucks, but it happens.
Reese has some sort of nagging deal with his knee/leg. Not a major injury and every team is dealing with guys that have some sort of nagging injury. Plus he's a big and they tend to get nicked up more.
Gary was a bit of a freak injury. Shoulder injuries as a whole aren't uncommon, but the way Gary was injured was really just unfortunate.
Now Herb is a little bit different. He may actually deserve the title of injury prone at this point, but it's mostly due to his frame and playing style. He's just kind of a long, thin, wiry guy that is constantly taking charges, diving for loose balls, etc. He plays very hard all the time - which is absolutely great and the reason he gets all of the accolades he does - but it does make him a little more susceptible to injuries.
I'm not counting JQ or Rojas, because it seems like all they've really had is some sort of covid or flu like situation (aside from the wrist that has been bothering Rojas that I wouldn't consider to be uncommon at all).

Pretty sure Kentucky football makes more than Kentucky basketball as well. Football is going to make more money than basketball at probably 99% of programs.
The point is longtime Alabama basketball fans feel like they've been shafted for years. This isn't something new that started since Byrne was hired. I believe he will get it done too, but the fans that have been filling Coleman for 50 years don't need to shut up about it because the football fans or whoever else wants them to. Keep the topic out in the open and fresh in the minds of everyone and maybe we can get the donations we need to actually make it happen.

I’ve been following this program for a long time, and I get it. I’ve been to tons of games in Coleman, and I’ve been to other arenas. Coleman is not up to par.
I just don’t understand why the conversation always turns to someone complaining about football. I think it comes across winey, and I think it incorrectly implies investing in football and investing in basketball are mutually exclusive.

Honestly these level teams might as well just play the conference tournament. It’s the only important part of their season without fans attending.

Going to the game tmrw, first time at coleman since 2011. Anything I need to know regarding traffic or parking? I remember theres a huge parking lot right there at coleman, can I just pull up and park there?
Also my wife wants to piddle around a bit beforehand, when she was younger she used to love going to cypress inn but said it's not open. Any recommendations for something that might be similar?

Are you familiar with The Crimson Standard?
Think back to 2018 and how nice BDS and the football facilities were. Then realize we allotted another $100+ million dollars in upgrades for larger screens and re-updating locker rooms, etc. Blew the budget and went (don't remember the exact number so hopefully i'm not wrong) tens of millions of dollars over to complete everything.
BDS didn't actually need any new bells and whistles, but it was automatically included as part of Phase 1 anyway, because Byrne and everybody else are smart enough to know that the majority of the big money donors are ultimately only concerned about the football program. So if you start asking everybody for donations when BDS is going to be the first place upgraded, maybe you'll get enough money to put a big dent in the Phase 2 budget.
Meanwhile, almost three years later and we still don't even know if we have enough money to begin thinking about gutting and/or razing Coleman. At this pace, we are going to need more upgrades of BDS before we ever get around to the basketball program. That's why basketball fans are getting restless and I don't blame us one bit.

Oh also, I'm picking up my tickets on site at the player/family area (like not a will call window I don't think). I was told by the person I'm getting them from:
"
I think they only have one spot for tickets at Coleman Coliseum and it’s the big atrium that faces the baseball field and the football ops building"
Can someone elaborate on this and where specifically I need to go?
