How do we have the #1 defense when we have no post presence? Imagine if they had a Donta Hall type guy. The fricking coaching staff deserves a big arse raise

Only if Mizzou and Arky lose again before then.

Otherwise, we need 4 games to clinch.

No? Or, am I missing something... its getting late for me on work night.

This is the only one I care about losing. That would make Bama's magic #4 games for the regular season title

Assuming no make-up games, I'm pretty sure Alabama's magic number is now 3. All 4 loss SEC teams have had at least one postponement, which means that the best record possible is 13-4, while if Bama finishes 3-3 their record will be 14-4, thus winning the title outright.

If Bama wins 3 games they win the title outright regardless of what anyone else does - except if they get to make up their postponed game(s) and win.

Win these next 3 and it guarantees at least a share. BUT I WANT AN OUTRIGHT TITLE

You will have it. The magic number is now 3 for an outright title, unless some of the postponed games are made up. According to ESPN's schedules, there are none scheduled at this time.

The last regularly scheduled SEC games are the Tuesday/ Wednesday before the tournament starts the following Wednesday, 7/8 days later. Plenty of time to reschedule a game or 2.
If push came to shove, they could have teams play in Nashville, say on Tuesday, March 9, to help determine seeds.

Bama Basketball Film Room
@BamaFilmRoom

Alabama’s defense has gotten basically zero national attention this year. Yet, they now sit 1st in defensive efficiency nationally.

They finished last season ranked 114th. Just an incredible turnaround by the coaching staff and players.

This is why per possessions numbers are SO important.

Against SCar, UA allowed 78 points, but SC only scored 0.95 PPP.

Last night, Iowa held Rutgers to 66 points, but Rutgers still scored 1.02 PPP.

It's the efficiency that matters. Alabama games have more possessions.

Another fascinating stat:

Alabama's avg. offensive possession: 14.1 seconds (2nd in CBB)

Alabama's avg. defensive possession: 17.4 seconds (232nd)

Oats has said he wants us to have the shortest offensive possessions and longest defensive possessions in the country.

This goes back to my post about Alabama offense/defense. *shrug*

TAMU game next week may not be played. They're having a COVID issues. We could use a week off to get everyone healthy.

That would be incredibly fortunate for us. Playing them gains us nothing, we avoid a road trip and everything that goes with it, get a whole week off, etc.

So who all are you really excited about that we have coming in?

The obvious answer is JD Davison. Kid is crazy good and will be a lottery pick after his freshman season.

Langston Wilson will end up with a bunch of highlight dunks/plays. Massive leaper at 6'9" 200 lbs. Needs to add some weight, but looks like he should be able to. He should grow into a very good defensive player in time as well. He can shoot it a little from range, but will probably need to improve some in that area along with his handle.

Jusaun Holt is probably my favorite though. He profiles as a multi year guy, unlike JD who will only be here for a year. Holt is a 6'6" sniper and boasts a well rounded offensive game. Has a very smooth feel to his game - kinda of like Primo in that sense. He rebounds very well for his position and should be a much better defender than a guy like Shack from day one.

Overall a really solid class that I am excited about.

With Juwan Gary and Bruner out, Oats said the front court is “decimated.”
