This is the biggest game of the year. Why? Because it's Kentucky and they have to win.
And it's Callipare. And he has to win.

For them, maybe. It's not the biggest game of our year.

If we lose we are 13-4 (8-1) and still very much in control of our own destiny in the SEC.

Kentucky Random Stats - Records

When Kentucky's Offensive Efficiency is > 100 : 5-0
When Kentucky's Offensive Efficiency is < 100 : 0-9
Alabama has allowed 1 game of > 100 since January 1st (Auburn - 102.2) and 6 games < 100

When Kentucky's Defensive Efficiency is > 97 : 1-7
When Kentucky's Defensive Efficiency is < 97 : 4-2
Alabama has not had an offensive efficiency game under 100 since Western Kentucky (95.7), and only 3 all year (Stanford, Clemson, WKU). Alabama has 9 straight games >100, including 4 straight > 109

When Kentucky Shoots > 25% from 3PT : 5-2
When Kentucky Shoots < 25% from 3PT : 0-7
Alabama's last 5 opponents have shot 29%, 19%, 24%, 22% and 30% from 3PT.

When Kentucky has 68+ offensive possessions : 2-6
When Kentucky has less than 68 offensive possessions : 3-3
The lowest opponent possessions since SEC play began was Tennessee with 69

When > 29% of Kentucky's FG attempts are 3s : 1-6
When < 29% of Kentucky's FG attempts are 3s : 4-3
The only 2 teams since January 1 to have less than 29% of their FG attempts be 3s were Mississippi State, with 23% and Arkansas with 27%

When Kentucky has an eFG% of > 47.6% : 4-1
When Kentucky has an eFG% of < 47.6% : 1-8 (3 pt win vs Vandy)
Alabama has allowed 1 team to shoot > 47.6% eFG% in SEC play - Auburn (53.2%)

So basically - if Kentucky is shooting a lot of 3s and not shooting them well and if the game is fast.......Kentucky is probably going to lose.

That means Kentucky will
(a) Try to slow the game down
(b) Try to score in the paint
(c) Need to convert of the 3s they do get

Kentucky is fricked. I expect Q to go off tonight. He’s been quiet lately. I also predict a huge night from Shack. I wanna see Keon Ambrose getting physical with them tonight.

I’ve come to expect Petty and Herb to play well every night now.

I mean, it's kind of like Les Miles saying that Oregon plays really fast and next time he wants to play at the same speed as them.

I mean, alright, but that isn't going to happen because it isn't who you are.

Lot of hand wringing over this game, but I think we win it pretty convincingly. This UK team just isn't very good, and they're young. This season just doesn't bode well for young teams, especially on the road. I think we win by 10-15 points.

Yea, this roster is actually full of talent. We may have one of the most talented teams in the country and its finally starting to show. We should control the game throughout.

This is just laughably idiotic and ignores anything and everything about schedules so far, performance, current standings, games remaining, math, etc.

What an idiot.

Only worry I have about tonight is keeping them from getting offensive rebounds.

That's probably going to happen. Their offensive rebound rate of 43.9% in Lexington was the highest we've given up all year (by far).

1. @ Kentucky (43.9%)
2. @ Tennessee (37.5%)
2. Clemson (37.5%)
4. Ole Miss (37.2%)
5. Western Kentucky (37.1%)

They've actually had OR rates of > 40% 4 times this year. They lost 3 of those games (Richmond, Bama, Georgia) and the 4th was Morehead State.

I mean unless some really crazy shite happens it's going to be us or Mizzou. That guy is talking like we're 3 games into conference play. Kentucky would literally have to win out to have any shot at all of winning the conference.

Yea, I mean look, we know more than anybody that looking at projections is a great way to disappoint yourself. However, the projections currently have us winning the SEC RUNNING AWAY.

KenPom Projected Finish
1. Alabama (16-2)
2. Tennessee (11-6)
3. Missouri (10-6)
4. Florida (11-7)
5. LSU (10-7)
6. Arkansas (10-8)

I mean we're talking needing to finish the year 4-6 in the SEC to tie for the conference title.

That would require us to lose 6-7 of the following
- Vanderbilt
- Georgia
- @ Texas A&M
- @ South Carolina
- Kentucky
- Auburn
- LSU
- @ Mississippi State
- @ Arkansas
- @ Missouri

Could we lose 7 of those games? I mean, sure, we've seen things like that happen before to worse teams. Outside of the biggest conference upset of the season, we are not losing to Vanderbilt, Georgia or Texas A&M. So that basically means we have to go 1-6 against those remaining 7 teams. Are the odds good, even with the Alabama basketball curse waiting to strike?

No, they aren't. They are insanely remote, to be honest, unless we have a bunch of guys get hurt (which is probably the most likely path to this happening and oh gawd its gonna happen).
