Calling Alabama a football school is so fricking lazy on the part of the media. It’s like saying Arkansas is a track school or Stanford is a swimming school. It’s stupid. Yes, they may be the most successful program at their respective schools, but it denigrates every other program and athlete at those schools. What about Alabama’s gymnastics titles, golf titles, wheelchair basketball titles? You think those athletes like being dissed like that?
I wish the next Alabama coach that had a media dick start with “What is it like to coach ______ at a football school like Alabama?” would just say “This interview is over because you just disrespected every athlete at this university that doesn’t play football. My team competes for championships just like football does. And by the way, the football DOES manage to provide money for world class facilities for just about every other sport on campus. So there’s that.”

I agree with you. The problem is the people in charge, the boosters, and Saban aren’t gonna like someone coming in and saying something like that. Comes off as disrespectful (even tho it’s true) and then you probably lose any support that you might can squeeze out of the football folks. Oats has handled it perfectly. He’s using football to help promote basketball and it’s working. The football twitter account that almost has a million followers has now started tweeting stuff for the basketball program more than ever, Oats’ comments about being a championship School have spread throughout the University and now all Alabama sports are using that “Championship School” comment to promote (on social media) their teams and the championships they win. Long story short, Oats has brought success to the basketball program, combined it with the football championships, and cast a broad brush over the program saying every sport here wins championships and now the whole school is benefitting.

Beard or Drew would be a home run for Indiana

Totally agree with all that. Oats is a a fantastic salesman. Someone mentioned a potential future legion of Basketgumps the other day, and I agree that if things keep rolling we will see it happen over the next 3-4 years. The true hardcore FOGs like that 1987 chode will never convert, but I think you'll see a lot begin to cross over if we win big for a few years and it gives them something else to talk shite about. Coleman is going to be a mad house next season.

Any insight on how Florida handled the 06 season with winning both? It just seems to me Florida fans are more balanced with football and basketball to begin with.

My point was, he’s been a major collegiate head coach for five or six years, had a really good team that made two tournament runs, and Texas essentially fired a successful HC in order to “make a run” at the guy, not hire him.

I'm probably screwed to watch any game today. I'm finally moving into a new place today. As I was try to get the last of my stuff packed, I feel through a rotten board on my porch, that I've told my property manager about several times, and damn near broke my ribs. It hurts to hold a cup of coffee at shoulder height, and that's after taking a couple hydrocodone. And now I get to move all my heavy stuff. So it'll need going much slower than I expected. And knowing that I'm cursed during moves, this is why I did it today instead of tomorrow. No way I'm gonna risk missing Bama's Sweet 16.

Hope you'll be ok soon, bro. But in case you're not, you should see a doctor to determine the extent of your injuries and required treatment(s) via a claim filed with the property management's or owner's liability insurance co. Your injury is due to the property management's negligence. They should also pay for movers ( Two Men and a Truck) to do the heavy lifting, instead of you risking further damage to your injured shoulder.

Jahvon Quinerly has been thru a lot of ups and downs but he has still maintained that hungry work ethic. I remember when everybody was dissing him because of what occurred at Villanova. He did not fit that system regardless and he could of learned Jay Wright defensive playbook and he still wouldn't have been like he is today because of the SYSTEM. Prime example...TREVON DUVAL went to Duke as the #1 POINT GUARD out of high school but it wasn't a GOOD FIT. He struggled during his time there. I'm just glad to see a guy WORK HARD and earn everything that's coming to him because just like Jahvon Quinerly said..."NO U-TURNS"

Which teams create the most spacing/gravity on the floor of the sweet 16?
Spacing is calculated through a combination of these variables:
C & S 3PT frequency
C & S 3PT efficiency
Guarded 3PT frequency

Bama has a few previous connections to UCLA's roster:
Tyger Campbell - Bama offer, teammate with Petty (WACG)
Jules Bernard - Bama offer
Johnny Juzang - First offer was Bama
Jaime Jaquez jr. - teammate with Shack (The Truth), also faced each other in high school.

Bruner will have a BIG game sooner or later. UCLA is very skilled so we got to come in ready to put the clamps on them from the jump.

Nah, I don't think so. I think he's basically done for the season.

Yea Bruner and Oats basically mutually agreed on that I think. If he wants to play any type of pro ball he needs to go rehab his knees and shoot for overseas ball.

I could see him playing some more minutes against Michigan to defend Dickerson around the basket (where his need to move in space is much more limited), but outside of that his body won't cooperate against teams that are going to get him out in space on defense.
