The only other postseason game these guys have ever played was the infamous NIT game against Norfolk State. We all already know about this game so there isn't anything to say, but I figured I would go ahead and include what Herb, Petty and Reese did in that one as well.

Herb (27 mins) - 6/10 FG, 1/1 3P, 5/8 FT, 18 points, 3 rebs, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 TO, 1 foul

Petty (30 mins) - 4/10 FG, 3/8 3P, 11 points, 5 rebs, 5 ast, 1 stl, 2 fouls

Reese (20 mins) - 5/10 FG, 5/8 3P, 2/2 FT, 17 points, 7 rebs, 1 stl, 2 TO

I had wiped that game from my memory, but those numbers are more than good enough to win. I guess our defensive effort was just abysmal. Like I said, I vowed to forget that game as soon as the buzzer sounded.

Anymore?? I've lived in Nashville since 1985 and I can't remember them caring about sports ever. Baseball maybe a little since Corbin has been here, Basketball they were pretty decent for a while but did not invest in facilities that I can remember and football would be NEVER.

I mean, it's an elite private school in the city. Beyond location, I don't see why anyone in Nashville would have any kind of emotional connection or bond with Vandy. They may root for them if they're doing well. But people that are sports fans probably have a different team they cheer for based on a reason besides location.

You might wanna see a urologist. It should probably go from 7 to 9, maybe 10. But it sounds like your balls have disappeared and you're gonna have to be very creative to find positions that'll work.

SI

No. 5 Alabama Basketball Not Taking Any Chances Against No. 15 Seed Iona

Head coach Nate Oats and sophomore guard Jaden Shackelford made it clear that this Iona squad is not to be underestimated

Because he and his family missed out on a serious money making opportunity, and it’s not right. Believe it or not, these players have lives off the court.

...So he picks THREE days before the tournament starts to make his controversial opinion public!...get a fricking brain!

You're right. This just reinforces what I said to my uncle the other night. I think Petty would benefit from a sports psychologist

quote:

Petty's psyche has been fragile since hes been in Tuscaloosa...I've thought the same thing more than once.

I didn't mean it in an insulting way at all. John Smoltz credits a sports psychologist with helping him get back on track when he was having a slump. Petty is very talented, with beautiful shooting form. He's making tough shots, but missing easy ones. Something just seems off. I just want him to see him play to his potential.

You sure are angry. Maybe he chimed in on something that is being discussed, and is capable of making that comment AND even playing basketball. There are some people that can't discuss things without getting outraged and letting it affect their entire mood and posting... er, I mean play. But, JQ doesn't seem like that type.

Nor did I! I like Petty's new game (with defense in the mix!). Some folks just are a little easier to get off kilter, psychologically...doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them!

If this team wins 3 more games, are they the best basketball team ever at Ala?

No, but double conference champions + an Elite Eight run would make it easily the most successful.

There are times for athletes to voice their opinions on controversial matters, and times to "keep a low profile". You can bet your arse that Oats wasn't pleased, but you won't hear him say anything negative publicly about it.
The fact that he'll probably be asked about it during a press conference is the very reason that it was a stupid mistake.

what is this BS:
quote:

If BYU wins, the East region will play its Sweet 16 games on Saturday, March 27, and have its Elite Eight regional final game on March 29. The Midwest region — currently scheduled for Saturday and Monday — would move to Sunday and Tuesday, March 30, in place of the East.

GTFO with this crap. Play on Sunday. It's not going to hurt you.

I don’t think we’re such a fragile bunch that our performance is going to be affected because Quinerly is asked a question at a press conference.

The quality looks good. But I'd recommend using a 11x17, so that it's easier to read. Thanks again!

He didn't pick the date. It was a national news story that was trending everywhere yesterday. A player from Rutgers basically started the movement on Twitter and a lot of players from all of the country made posts supporting the cause and giving their own experience.

JQ typing one paragraph about a topic that directly impacted him and that he's passionate about does not make him immature. That kid loves basketball and wants to win games as much as anybody. He's not offending anyone, he's just voicing his opinion on the subject. I support him in it, because it's a stupid NCAA rule anyway, but i'm sure there are plenty out there that just want him to "shut up and dribble".

I doubt Nate was upset about it all.
