Yeah, I wouldn't put that Houston game in the W column yet. They are solid again.
My observations: Byrne needs to make sure Nate has 2 throwaway games and 1 decent opponent to start each year to work things out and set his roster. Facing Stanford in game 2 was too much too soon. Stanford is a tourney team with Zaire, so not a bad loss.
Herb, Bruner, Reese, and Rojas should have 2 green lights per game from 3. If you make one, you get another. 2 misses and you're done shooting because if you do, find the pine. Instead, these guys need to take it to the hole and finish much more often. They need to work on going up strong in traffic and putting it down. And free throws. That's almost as good as the kickout 3 ball and we will get many more of those opportunities if the big men can throw a few down to make the defense collapse. Especially Bruner. He needs to find a mean streak.
More Primo, less Reese.
Love Shack, I think he's the heir apparent for the Herb Jones Hardhat award.
I hope Petty keeps up the games he had in games 2 and 3, not game one.
Until Petty, Herb, and Reese leave after the season, I don't expect huge strides. Next year will be addition by subtraction. Herb and Reese aren't really great fits for the system (although we can all agree Herb makes up for it a lot with effort) and Petty needs better handles to be truly great for this offense even though he's a big contributor.
Gotta get some depth at the PG position. Having one true guy there is just flirting with disaster.
Last night late, when Nate put the 2's in, it was horrible. I may be totally wrong, but I can't think our second 5 is that bad. They need more minutes to get acclimated. We could use some of those guys later, so can we try to get KAH, Gary, Ellis, etc, some meaningful minutes with the 1's to try and get them up to speed?
First impressions: I think 4th in the league may have been a bit generous as most people thought Bama would pick up where they left off in 2019 and build from there. We seem to have plateaued a bit which isn't totally bad but I don't think we are going to challenge for the league title or anything. I think we probably get 19-20 wins and an at large bid as probably a 10 seed. We aren't ready to challenge the Illinois and Baylors yet, but we are a decent team. I hope we can build from here next year with a complete Ballin' Oats roster.

I think Bruner is the most crucial player to stay healthy for this team based on the alternatives. He’s the only one that provides rim protection and in an up-tempo system like ours a rim protector is a must. I honestly think once Gary gets fully healthy, he may be our best option at the backup 5. He may not have the length, but he has the body to bang with other bigs and the athleticism to protect the rim.

You mean you don't want to see Reese for 28 minutes every game?

He only played 17 last night and Primo played 24

What's funny is that Petty did same thing in HS. His ball handling has improved and I think he will continue to get better as the season goes along. That drive to dunk that he missed badly... Nothing new. He did same thing in HS, but I noticed he had extra hop adn that was good to see.
John Petty is NOT quick, and as a 6'5" guard he's gonna have trouble finessing the guy guarding him.

Could Ambrose-Hylton not play Reese’s minutes?
Speaking of free seasons, does that mean Reese could comeback? Somebody shoot me

NCAA: Damn. Foiled again!

that wont happen because they would have to drop the charges against all the schools involved in the adidas FBI probe. Lville claiming the ncaa has exceeded its authority.

I really hope we get the 11:00 game against Arkansas. Our game with Clemson starts at 6 that night

Clemson game is much more important than the Arkansas game.
There I said it.
