Does Final 4 = New Arena?

I mean technically a new arena is in progress right now at some level, but I have to think this season has at least given Byrne cover to push for it to be fast-tracked (even without a Final Four).

The fact that all their loud arse trolls like that one have just been absolutely broken is pretty damn hysterical.

Ya but I feel like if we make a final 4 (or beyond) - we should immediately capitalize on that as far as recruiting goes. Deep run > major financial investment announcing new arena will really help put the nail in the coffin of "Alabama is only a football school" as far as recruiting goes.

Agree... Build a new arena and make the commitment. Leave no doubt in Oats mind.

I'm 100% with you. There is no better time to push that thing through than after this season - especially if we can somehow get to the FF.

Presumably its Hinkle but things may be different this year

From what I heard on the X's and Oats podcast this morning, they're actually going to be rotating locations. But, I have no idea where we would be for the second round.

sorry for the non-tide material but pretty good Juwan Howard article from SI, tough year for him and his family.

I really love our draw. Seriously.

I actually think we have a good chance to make the Final 4

I think we have a sort of uneven draw. We have arguably two under-seeded teams in the 7-10 game, but then greener pastures after that.

If the toughest possible Sweet 16 and Elite 8 matchups are Texas and Michigan (without Livers), it's hard to argue with that. I'll take it.

And of course we may not get that. I think we might see Florida State in the Elite 8, but we also could get a potentially better matchup than Texas in the Sweet 16.

We just need to come out and take care of business in the first two rounds and then see what happens.

Amen. It’s all about these first two rounds. Playing with house money after that.
Like my guy Petty said, ANYONE WHO WANTS SOME CAN COME GET IT

Yep - and I think we have. The only thing left is the one we all "see" the most, the arena. And in light of our success, the excitement and the nibbles at our head coach........they need to get that shite fast tracked

I am really hoping that a good showing in the tournament to cap such a successful season will prompt some of the big money boosters to open up their wallets and make it happen. Because if that doesn't get it done I don't think it'll ever get done.

One name to remove from Indiana’s search already: Nate Oats.

Sources say Oats has no desire to leave Alabama for Indiana for multiple reasons, one of the obvious ones being his recently signed contract extension that includes one of the biggest buyouts in CBB at present.

Don't know if this has been posted (from a CBS sports guy):

Edit: Not shockingly, beaten to the punch

Good. Oats wasn't going to leave after this year anyways. He and the staff devoted too much time into the upcoming recruiting classes.

Honestly he might just hole out for an NBA job. Listen to his interviews and press conferences. He's an NBA junkie.

He might be an NBA junkie but blue collar basketball and the hard hat will go over like a lead balloon with a bunch of dudes who think their shite doesn't stink even if his overall style of play is very well suited to pro ball.
