I'll take a JC post player. Not sure why a guard is being looked at unless someone is leaving early or transferring.

Possible transfer news I saw on bamamag and twitter. Supposedly Tulane PG Ricky Tarrant is transferring here. He's from Bama and played AAU ball with Levi and Cooper. Both he and Justin Coleman were at our game last night.

Here's the tweet I saw: @tracyrobbins: @KevinScarbinsky Ricky Tarrant will transfer to UA from Tulane. Really good PG.

That's good I guess. I assume he'd have to sit out a year but we wouldn't really need him til year after next anyway

ETA: just looked at his stats. Very impressive

LOL said we could use him earlier this year and jumped down my throat and said we dont need him SMH. Saw BOL that Grant wants to add 1 or 2 more players so he is looking at add bodies. Which is good because these guys need to be competing against someone in practice.

Not really that excited about it. I'd much rather have Sina. His shooting percentage sucked this year, but he did have a better overall year his freshman campaign though so we will see. Probably has to sit out a year. Dumb question, but if he can't play next year does he still count against our scholarship limit?

Yeah he would count as a scholarship player. His shooting stats weren't that bad from what I saw. A shade over 30% from 3 and an 80% foul shooter. You'd expect him to get better like Releford has in his redshirt year as well. Plus last night grant said he wanted a couple more players so hopefully we add someone else that can play right away.

Good news is he won't be afraid to shoot it. I'd take him. I still stand by my statement I wouldn't have signed him over Lacey, Randolph, Cooper, or Retin.

Not talking about his 3pt%, mainly his shooting percentage as a whole. I cringe when I see a FG% below 40%. He is a high volume guy so he could definitely shoot better when he isn't the number 1 option. I also wonder what position he'll play and if this hurts our chances at both Sina and Coleman. We need a distributor at the point IMO. Maybe this guy will be that kind of PG.

I would consider that good news, especially if we miss on Sina. Wouldn't be that bad for him to just have a year to work on his game.

The idea of a white Marshall Henderson doesn't really excite me. Tarrant is a volume shooter who is streaky as hell and doesn't offer you much besides 3s. We will love him when he makes 3 or 4 in a row and hate him when he has a 1-8 type night.

I don't think he would be allowed to shoot like that here. He has decent assist numbers. That's what's important. I saw he averaged 3.6 assists a game this year.

Damn he's a dark white guy.

His first year at Tulane he scored 15 pts on 43% shooting, so I'll try and have an open mind here, but like you, I'm not excited about it. Will be really disappointed if he is our PG of the future though.

That's the best thing on his stat sheet IMO. It may be pretty average for most team's PGs, but that is pretty good for our team.

I actually think he's a way better option than relying on a freshman to run the team. If we get him, he has a year to learn our "system". That way, if we get Coleman, all the pressure won't be on him his first year.

Maybe combining a very free shooter with Grant's threats of punishment for making too many shots will result in a happy medium.

Hell I want a guy who will shoot open shots. Jesus how many did we pass up last night. Lacey starts missing then wont shoot the open one.

I guess I'm just more disappointed in us not getting Sina. I think this signing kind of pisses on that option. I would have much rather had him come in and adapt to the college game for a year and takeover the point duties until Coleman was ready. I guess he does have to take the sure thing though.
