If we win 2/3 in Gainesville, which will not be easy......

41-14 (17-13)
#7-8 RPI
21-13 vs Q1/2

That's a hosting resume. Might need to win 1 in Hoover, depends how the committee treat conference tournaments this year.

Heiberger has at least flashed signs of being able to hold down great offenses. He'd definitely be my #3 guy at this point. Past that I got nothing. Banks probably but confidence level of about zero.

I wish we could do a better job of putting pitchers in situationally, like for one out, like every other top team in the SEC does.

Even then, it’s still all a crap shoot.

Wes Johnson tried it in the 8th against Bonomolo and paid for it.

We ask our relievers to do too much sometimes.

Hahah Banks made one bad pitch.

Do you even watch these games? How can you walk a guy up 3 runs, give up 2 runs in 1 inning, and only make 1 bad pitch?

Heiberger hit a guy on an 0-2 count, causing us to go to our closer for the 2nd time in one day to clean up his mess (pitched ok, other than that).

It was 2 runs on 2.1 innings, which is an ERA that is abysmal. We have 2 reliable relievers…it’s obvious to everyone except you.

Buddy it happens every day across all levels of baseball. I’m sorry this is so confusing for you.

What the frick are you even talking about. Let’s just move the goal post to wherever you’re comfortable with.

A person gives up a walk up 3 and a HR on only 1 bad pitch? I’ve watched a lot of baseball in my life and never seen that. You should watch more baseball

The HR ball was the pitch I was referring to, which everybody in this thread other than you understood.

I don’t understand what’s confusing you. I asked what the ERA was of the guys other than our 2 decent arms. Those “other guys” pitched 2.1 innings today and gave up 2 ERs. That’s an 8.57 ERA today from the bullpen when excluding our 2 decent arms. Add in Friday’s performance, and it’s another weekend of absolutely horrendous bullpen performances outside of 2 guys.

Thats why we’ve been winning only 1 game per series in most of our series, and we were very fortunate that today’s game was only 7 innings. I highly doubt we win that game if we couldn’t have gone to Oz in the 7th.

And are conveniently ignoring the walk before the HR, that was actually the bad pitches that mattered. Solo HRs rarely beat you when you are up 3 with 6 outs to go.

TL;DR

If we removed Lebron, Snell, and Bonomolo from our lineup, we probably get swept today.

Gotcha, you think our bullpen is still really good and one of the best parts of our team that almost never gives up a lead. Enjoy the rest of the season watching our dominant and efficient bullpen.

We win the series next week we should be a lock to host. Get one and we have a real chance.

Our BP guys have combined for 5 losses.

Alcock’s losses came as a starter.

So five blown leads/ties resulting in a loss over 52 games.

I’m sure your math is 5 blown leads in conference play out of our 12 losses.

SOG posted the stats that matter. It’s clear that we have 2 reliable bullpen arms and only 2. It’s not even arguable, but yet, some still want to debate it. Good luck with that

3-3 over these last two series seems almost like a lock now. If we could end up 4-2 against UGA and UF we'd definitely host.

You act like every team we face has a bunch of BP guys out there with 1.15 conference ERAs.

They don’t.

They’re all in the 3-5 range.

I’ve never said our BP was great. I’ve been specific that I think they’re “above average.”

I don’t have a sub to D1, but I’d be curious as to how many SEC teams with winning conference records have only 2 bullpen arms with a sub 4.50 ERA in conference (with reasonable innings pitched requirements)? I bet there aren’t many with only 2.

And that doesn’t even adjust for the 6 games we played against the worst team the SEC has ever seen, and the team that only scored 2 runs in 20+ innings against their 11+ ERA pitchers.

Edit: we might only have 2 sub 5.00 ERA after Banks’ day today. It’s very, very clear we have an extremely shallow pen to most of us. The fact that we are 1 series win against UF away from hosting is very impressive all things considered, and the coaching staff absolutely did the right thing by sacrificing Friday games several weeks ago. Others don’t want to mess up their rotations to match us. That’s obviously harder to do in the postseason, so I doubt Fay will be our first starter in Hoover or the regional.
