All the complaints aside I do think we make it to Nashville to play Vanderbilt and this team can beat them we win the series without a meltdown by OZ (he’s been great not bashing him)

Yeah its past the point of "matchups, percentages, etc"
Its put up or shut up. The team will have to hit better and the starters are gonna have to bring it every start or this season is kaput

Be very curious to see how we approach the pitching decisions. Miami was not a great offensive team this year.

Roll with Zane vs Miami and save Quick for a hopefully game with USM? Feels like we can't afford to end up in a losers bracket game with our lack of quality depth in the pen.
On top of that you figure USM will throw Middleton against the winner of our game vs Miami, so there won't be a ton of room for error.

It is the usual practice to throw your ace game 1. You simply do not want to land in the losers bracket. USM will throw their best against Columbia because 1. You just cannot take teams lightly and 2 Columbia is going to throw their ace. Most every team has a top notch Friday night guy. Get shut down by Columbia’s ace while giving up 4 to them because you didn’t take them seriously…. That is a great way to get a lot of criticism. USM has enough trouble coming with us in their bracket.

USM has a good crowd / environment down there . It will be tougher than most expect

Terrible take. Most 4 seeds ace would not be the ace on a 1 seed. I saw USM destroy Troy the other day and they have plenty of hitting in their tank

We can't even bother showing up at our home stadium. Why would we bring fans to USM? The best crowds we had at "home" this year were all away from Tuscaloosa in Huntsville and Birmingham. It's pathetic

I doubt very seriously many Bama fans can get tickets even if they wanted them. Maybe for Game 1. But you can forget the Saturday night game against USM if both advance. Will be a hard sellout.

Who is everybody’s guess/choice to start GM1? I hope he goes with Adams and Quick for GM 2. If we can get wins with those two, then Fay and Johnnie Wholestaff hopefully can’t get one to get to supers

Dude. Last year, 1 seed East Carolina tried saving their #1 guy and got beat by 4 seed Evansville in the first round and eventually lost their regional. Arizona tried pitching their number two guy against Grand Canyon and lost 9-4. They never made it out of their regional.
Georgia held out Kolton Smith and barely squeaked by 4th seed Army 4-3. Clemson got cute and slipped by 4th seeded High point 4-3.
1 Seed Arkansas tried to save Hagan Banks for later and gave up 9 runs to Southeast Mo. State. Fortunately for them they scored 17 runs.
Last year is not an anomaly. This stuff happens every year. Teams you think are a cakewalk still have Division 1 players, and most have a dude. That's why the are in a regional.
Coaches actually have their careers on the line. Playing dreamy gamesmanship about saving your ace is what can get them fired. They can’t hit reset or change their online username. They have to live with it.
You go with your best in the first game to stay out of the elimination bracket and then maybe your ace can give you an inning on Sunday or Monday if you need it.

YOu can site examples all you want but you should have enough hitting to not have to pitch your ace. Get back with me when the game starts. I am referring to this one game and not all of the matchups.
