We have a final out of Troy, Alabama. Alabama falls 6-1 to Troy. It is the Crimson Tide’s fourth midweek loss this season. After taking an early 1-0 lead courtesy of a Jason Torres home run, it looked as if things were trending upward for Rob Vaughn and co. JT Blackwood provided four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out two batters. Alabama would throw six relievers in the game. The group combined to walk seven batters and allowed five earned runs on six hits. A very lackluster showing from Jason Jackson’s group tonight. Not to mention, Alabama only recorded four hits on the night. Half of which came off the bat of Eric Hines. With Alabama’s chances of hosting a regional up in the air, this only hurts their chances. Alabama will head to Columbia for a three-game series against South Carolina this weekend. The series begins on Friday and first pitch is set for 4:30 CT.

Flush it but don’t read too much into it. Troy gamed the RPI well enough to make this a Q1 loss on the road lol.

Alabama didn’t even drop a spot as a result.

That’s an overreaction. You didn’t even drop in the metrics lol. This game amounted to nothing beyond vibes.

Just take care of the remaining SEC series and the rest takes care of itself.

Losing a mid-week game to a sunbelt team with a losing record does not inspire confidence that we'll take care of our remaining sec series.

It’s literally a Q1 loss. This is not something the committee will hammer you on.

And like I said, vibes.

The only games Bama has left are 3 Q2 (road) and 3 Q1 (home).

There’s quite literally nothing left that could tank Bama outside of a road sweep at USC, and even then probably still a national seed.

Winning a home regional is a given as long as starting pitching shows up

Is it? We’ve proven we can show up and get 3-4 hits in 9 innings against anyone

How I feel every time we lose a game.

That game last night meant diddly squat.

The most shocking part of last night is that Alcock has been demoted to mid week garbage time innings.

I would really love to just do away with midweek games once conference season start.

That was Troy’s World Series and we could not be less interested.

We've got starters batting .180-.250

If those guys aren't interested in hitting the baseball hard and getting out a slump then that's an unfixable issue.

Kids averaging 2 K's per game at the plate aren't above playing against anyone, much less a perennial tournament team

Peyton Steele has our lowest BA as a starter at .206. He was banged up and probably still is. Even he has gotten big timely hits lately.

We didn’t even play Neal yesterday.

Gave Plattner a chance to show a sign of life which he did not.

Torres is hitting better

Hines has stayed hot

Blackwood had a good start

Will need all three of them in order to make a run at Hoover and a regional.

There were some positives to take away from last night.

And that’s a problem!!
I really wonder if there are any leaders on this team. A coach wants a certain level of play, and for the players to play at that level, and try like hell to improve on it.
There should be some hunger to perform regardless of Troy or whoever.
Where’s the focus????

Even Saban admitted he could only get the players “up” a couple of times a year.
Coming off an SEC sweep with some momentum, and get 4 hits with 11 Ks 48 hrs later.

Focus was on Friday against South Carolina — on a game that matters.
