If he can’t throw that’s fine but no pressure lead to way to much time to throw those TD bombs.

Over half this season have come against Vandy, Louisiana Monroe, and Utah State.

Maybe pump the brakes.

Against Texas he was a liability and he absolutely disappeared against Tennessee in a game where they stood back and shredded us all game, which is where he’s supposed to shine.

He’s a phenomenal talent, but to deny he hasn’t disappointed this year is just telling me you aren’t watching the same game everyone else is.

I wish they would just tell his arse to go destroy the QB every down, frick this mush rush shite

It’s a pick your poison kind of thing. We mush rush against a thrower and he burns us with his arm. He did. I personally think we have stopped the QB run this year very well.

Maybe in 3rd quarter when it was obvious they were killing us with deep throws they could have made some adjustments ?

Whatever our gameplan on defense was in this game didn't work! And I didn't see much change in the D the entire game. Their O-Line stone-walled us into oblivion.

Sometimes it’s 20 minutes. Oof!

Softest Bama team since Shula. There’s zero doubt about that.

2021 team was soft too.

But they kind of got harder as the season progressed. We weren’t soft after that Auburn game.

The story of the 2022 team isn’t even halfway over yet, so they can turn it around but I don’t know why some people disagree that this team…so far…could be the softest one since Saban has arrived. 2007 wasn’t talented and it had its issues, but they also played over their heads in a few games. This team hasn’t done that yet. If we go into Baton Rouge & Oxford and do what we’re supposed to, then I’ll take back my comment.

So after the 12th game of the regular season, they beat Cincinnati and went 1-1 versus Georgia.

They were soft in 2021.

31/41/15 had their tool kit limited in the game. Sal Sunseri taught them speed rush techniques and also how to crossover and convert the speed to power for bull rush and inside shoulder rips. The key to his teaching was to set the inside moves up by getting the OT reaching for the speed rush which caused the OT to lose his base power. As for what Coleman Hutzler is teaching them this year, I can't quite figure it out (but I have not been looking that closely).

When you take away the speed rush all that is left is bull, inside rip or a twist. With no threat of a speed rush the OT/OG can pass off on stunts and the OT has his power base to take on a bull rush or inside rip. Mush rush turns 31 into an undersized DE instead of an elite edge rusher. A good OT can handle an undersized DE when the threat to stretch him at the edge is gone.

We were in mush rush all afternoon, it was a coaching decision not a lack of effort.
What in the world was the mush rush accomplishing?

I’m not at all saying there was a lack of effort.

Just wondering what was trying to be accomplished. Hooker still picked up yards when he ran it seemed. The rush just game him all day to throw.

Is he even a really dangerous runner?

And shite, let him run. The clock runs and they aren’t throwing bombs every play.

They throw SO well that turning them into a running team would be a positive.

can someone explain how Tenn Oline turn out to be so good.

maybe our front seven made them look good?

we always played 3DL vs their 5 OL .. should have changed the game by putting more on LOS like Oliver and confused the shite as to who to block.

and with 0 blitz packages to strike fear in an opposing offense... great recipe for success

A lot of it is simply the number of players AT the line of scrimmage. With the lack of defensive line pressure (much by design), our only pressure comes from a delayed LB blitz or delayed corner, safety blitz. When UT has our secondary spread to the sidelines, you eliminate most of the secondary blitzes. That left us with the LB blitz which was countered with a slant to the vacated area. Golding's other attempt at "trickery" was to drop Will and Dallas into coverage and send a LB blitz. That was still a delayed pressure with the same number of rushers. We didn't overwhelm the line with numbers and when we did, it was delayed which has become less affective.

In today's game, if you don't have pressure in the opponent's backfield, you are screwed. The rules make it very difficult for a secondary player to cover for any extended length of time. When you have more pressure, it shortens the field and allows your secondary players to play tighter to the line, which can help against the QB run.

We have to make a change.

Pulling a plow with a Ferrari.

We schemed away our greatest strength as a team and even when it was clear that the plan wasn’t working we still wouldn’t change things up.

I'm not sure if a coach who made his living teaching toughness and perseverance is going to do well in the age of NLI. We know from the NFL that there is a certain percentage of players who once that first big paycheck comes, they never play hard again. It's human nature. there will be 5 star 6 figure salary busts in college, probably more so than the pro ranks because at least those guys are a few years older.

Yes by making unbelievable plays against Utah State, Vanderbilt and La Monroe.
