By my count, 21+ point losses by Alabama coach in 21st century:
Mike Debose - 4 (all in one season, impressive work)
Kalen DeBoer - 3
Mike Shula - 1 (but he went for a shutout denying garbage time FG that told me he was a fraud in his first year)
Nick Saban - 1 (lil ol clempson)

Hard pill to swallow considering what we are used to.
Consistency is what makes a program great, and we are seriously lacking it at the moment.

Its an ebb and flow. We had it for 15 years. We were extremely lucky as fans to have that glorious run.

It all starts with the OLine imo. They were the most inconsistent part of the team, so much so that we just expected them to let a free rusher through and were surprised when they blocked a play correctly (so was Ty.
Proctor was an awful fit for this scheme despite being a physical specimen. This will be the position group that has my attention going into next season. If we don't see or hear of any improvement, it'll be a sad state of affairs for whoever takes over at QB and RB.

I think we've been very consistent these past two years. We lost four games last year and four games this year.

Fans: we want consistency
DeBoer: say no more
Fans: no, not like that

Even during our probation years, we rarely got blown out the way we regularly do with CKD, who has one of the most talented rosters in the country. It's not normal. It's not acceptable and it can't continue to happen if CKD wants to be here long term.

Tuberville played us all those years on probation and never beat us by more than 10 pts. You know he would have ran it up if he could.
Very few of our coaches have ever lost a game by 35. DuBose is the only one in my lifetime I can think of. I was born in the late 60's.

Worst thrashing I’ve ever seen Alabama take as a 36 year old. I remember those Dubose and early Shula losses, but it’s not like I sat down as an 8 year old and watched the whole 1998 Arkansas game.
This was pure belt to arse

I sat through that in person and wouldn’t put that close to Clemson in 2019.
Venables whipped the most elite offensive team in CFB history, with cumulative NFL contracts >1 billion between all the draft picks.
Yesterday was rough but it was also pretty clear the back was going to break eventually with the run game and offensively we just never even tried to dial up a vertical game compared to failing to.

The 2019 CFPCG (2018 season) was one of those games. Clemson was as loaded as we were but a bit better on defense. Even so, they hit on 3rd and long like we did against UGA earlier this year. I think by metrics, that 44-16 final score was statistically unlikely. They just hit EVERY single play they needed on 3rd down and hit hard...not just for first downs but gashes or long touchdowns.
That game didn't quite feel like the final score. We had some chances to hold serve or claw back in it but Venables knack for having defenders in a spot that only makes sense if you knew EXACTLY the play being ran got us.

Locksley was thoroughly outcoached. We had five or six redzone appearances and got absolutely nothing out of it.
We ran a damn full house run with Tua on like 4th and 10. It was maddening

I was in college at UA during the Tuberville years. I remember in 2004, Alabama dressed out like 53 players due to the sanctions. Our team played that great Auburn team tooth and nail up until midway through the fourth quarter. Even in that situation, our team had pride and played their asses off despite being totally outgunned. What we saw yesterday was arguably the worst performance in modern history for Alabama from both the players as well as the coaches. DeBoer is simply in over his head and can’t handle the heat.

That 2004 team had Spencer Pennington out there and I think they had a halftime lead. 6-0 maybe?

Yep too many red flags with DeBoer with these arse beatings and the players quitting. Sucks we can’t fire him now but is what it is, only a matter of time.
Saban retiring when he did but Byrne in a bind - if had disclosed it to him earlier maybe we could have gotten Cignetti but DEBoer was the only viable option. Oh well it all happens for a reason and maybe the dominos are in place for Bama to get back on top. There will be some pain along way like last time.

You can always fire somebody.
What if tomorrow he gets caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl? He's getting fired.
Now, back to reality...that big buyout? 90% of it is spread out in monthly payments over the next 6 years if they fire him now. That's manageable.
I'm not saying DeBoer should be fired...yet.
But Greg Byrne should channel Mal Moore and give DeBoer about 48 hours to fire some assistants...or else.

Lucky me I was at this game and the Rose Bowl.
That’s right though we went to the 15 yard line 6 times and did not get a single point. It was madness. The last time on number 6 we tried a boot leg with Tua on 4th down they absolutely smoked us on. I just sat down quietly.
This Rose Bowl was weird, the sideline had 0 energy. I swear to you the team knew they were cooked after the first TD.

The exact same thing happened after the blocked punt in the SECCG.

It’s crazy. But against Oklahoma (I was there). They kept the energy going?

We need a clean Scott Cochran back.
