Really enjoyed watching Mo at Bama, he was such a versatile player but it all depends on what a player is asking for and getting on the open market from an NIL perspective as to whether who has his skill set and limitations is worth the asking price.

Malone is a random hire. Guy hasnt coached in college since 2001. I guess the hope is he can convince talent to take a discount to play for him? I mean, dudes a good coach. But its very much an experiment.

I kind of like it. Malone is a really good coach and Carolina can get good kids. If the belief is that NiL does all the recruiting for you then there’s really no reason not to go hire the best coach you can

They just tried this with Belichick and it was a disaster.

That said, Malone is in his 50s and doesn't have an escort masquerading as his girlfriend.

Yes I think this is a VERY different situation. College and Pro Football are drastically more different than basketball and I sincerely think Belichick is checked out. I think when he took the job he wanted to be good but realized very early on this isn’t what he wanted and has been mailing it in.

Malone still has a lot of fire in him.

Former Alabama players set to enter the transfer portal:

*Mo Dioubate
*Sam Walters
*Naas Cunningham
*Kris Parker

Would you want Alabama to re-recruit any of them? If so, who?

I don’t really want any of them back. I’d take Mo if we don’t pay a lot. I’d be ok with bringing Naas back because of potential and he’s was a team favorite. The other two hard pass

I absolutely hate this shite. I don’t necessarily blame to players for chasing more money, but it’s completely ruining college sports

We need to develop competence in euro scouting. I think that’s how you are going to fill out a roster these days.

Not just europe. Nebraska had a player from Japan a few years ago.

I am no Dan Hurley fan, but wish he or his brother would teach Oats how to call timeout. UConn only down 4 and Hurley uses his first half TO. Someone needs to tell Oats it’s not just to “tell them to play harder.”

On a recruiting note, I’d take MoD back if for a reasonable price. Upperclassmen are needed to win in March/April

Barnes called like 3 timeouts trying to stop that 28-0 Michigan run. It didn't work. Sometimes a team is just on fire.

True, but it fails to work 100% of the times you don’t try it.

Of the players who played in the first half of this NC game:

UConn:
Only 2 of 9 were underclassman with only 1 being a starter

Mich:
Only 2 of 8 were underclassman with only 1 being a starter.

We started 4 underclassman against Michigan, 2 freshman and 2 sophomores. Arguably our best team ever started 3 freshman for much of the year (Bradley, Miller, Clowney), and exited the tourney early when we hit SDSU’s grown men. Look at what happened to Duke last year and this year. Underclassman rarely win in late Mar/April. It’s been true for a very, very long time.

This sounds suspiciously like your QB argument.

I can see your association, but the QB one is a relatively new development due to portal/NIL and new playoff format.

The upperclassmen win in Mar/April has been tried and true for decades with only a handful of outliers.
