He seemed so over everything this season. This is why you’d actually maybe rather have several top 20-40 guys than a top 3 guy. They cost a ton and mostly are just waiting for the draft.
I think Peterson is a totally different animal than your typical 1 and done recruit to be fair. I don't think I've ever seen another player just pull himself and sit the rest of the game because his legs were getting tired or he didn’t feel like playing anymore or whatever. I honestly have no clue why they don't just tell him to frick off and focus on his draft prep. I guess because he's talented enough to drop 30 in 20 minutes on the court if he's feeling motivated so you might as well see if that happens, but at some point it seems like it has to become counterproductive no matter how good he is. Everyone else on that team knows who he is and what he's about and they all have to hate his arse. Especially the guys playing at less than 100%.
He's a Kings draft pick all the way.

I don't see Bristow returning and who knows what Onyejiaka will end up doing. If he ever manages to get healthy and play or even play here. He looks the part.
But we get killed by big teams and we need size.

Portal has brought us Sears, Nelson, Trelly, Biz, Houston, Youngblood.
Estrada as well. 2nd leading scorer, 2nd leading Rebounder, and 1st in assists for the final four team. Oddly, had a lot of haters

I can't imagine being an NBA gm or owner and making Peterson a top pick. He has basically put every possible red flag out there that he is either a head case or he will straight up quit on his teammates. Then I hear experts say "oh he is just bored at the college level" as if that's a reasonable explanation. That makes zero logical sense. He is bored doing the job that you are about to pay him franchise money with???
From the standpoint of being a basketball player, I love his game though.

I like recruits ranked in the 70s. That seems to be our sweet spot for landing NBA talent.

Where is the competitive spirit? I never saw Jordan bored. Not to use the greatest player as an example, I never saw Moses Malone bored, Wes Unsell, TR Dunn etc. How about going about business in a way that at the end of each day you can look yourself in the mirror and honestly know you did your best that day. Just show respect for your teammates, organization, and fans.

Honestly, the more likely scenario is that the Kings pick 3rd, they decide to go with someone else because of the red flags with Peterson on the board and Peterson becomes a GOAT contender.

This is how the Jalen Johnsons of the world get taken far too late in the draft. If I were a GM there's only 3 true red flags I'd look for: off the court behavior issues, work ethic issues, and medical problems. According to the knowledge available, the first 2 are emphatically checked. He's been described as a gym rat throughout HS and even college to the point it reminds me of the way folks talked about Sexton. If his medicals are fine, I think you have to take him top 3. The separation between those top 3 and the rest is too significant to let another guy who prioritized the next level (as weird as it may have been) slip.

As long as there isn’t a basketball game happening in that gym.

Was never an issue in HS and was considered the ultimate competitor at that level. I won't deny that the college experience has been weird, but there's been a number of guys recently who quit on their college team early to prioritize the NBA draft where it ended up being a nothing burger at the next level. It's annoying to watch as a college fan (and is another reason why I'd love for the NBA to nix the one and done rule), but at the same time he could have shut it down entirely after the first stint and would have been a lock to go top 3. He clearly wants to play to a certain extent and looking at his HS tape you can definitely see that something is affecting his athletic burst. To me, it seems he has some type of nagging injury, but instead of playing through it, he nurses it because he's focused on his draft stock instead of collegiate success.

Big Ben Simmons vibes for me.
I don’t watch the nba but if I did and had a team I’d be worried

Are you thinking of someone else? Simmons played all 33 of LSU's games and averaged 35 minutes per game. He also was a terrible shooting prospect whose refusal to even attempt shooting the ball buried his NBA career.

Nope I’m thinking of Ben Simmons. It was heavily rumored at LSU that he had a bad work ethic, was a bad teammate and really didn’t care about winning. LSU way underachieved that year and he gets his first big contract and has a new ailment each year.

Arizona State is about to part ways with Bobby Hurley. Might be a very nice pickup as an assistant if we need one at year end and Bobby doesn’t land a bigger job. If Nate learned under his tutelage, there might be a good synergy between them.

That’s always a weird dynamic when the former boss ends up being the subordinate. Oats likes both the Hurleys a lot and they got him into college basketball
I’d be for it if Bobby wants it. Almost figure he could get a mid major gig or work for Dan.

Bobby Hurley can still get a decent job for sure but we would absolutely take him. No questions asked.
