He lost his starting position due to a freshman for 1) having an affinity for avoiding contact, 2) less than stellar ball tracking skills. Why he would enter before the playoffs is a head scratcher.

He’s 6-3 205 and had over 600 yards receiving in 2024. Why is this underwhelming?
For reference the NC State WR everyone is fawning over had less than 500 yards.

DeBoer's system always wants to have a big body target who uses it well. Horton is exactly that. Miami folks thought he was very good last year. We didn't have one of those guys on the roster other than Odom, and Odom was about as raw as raw gets at WR. We signed Meadows, who can be that eventually, but he won't be next year.
Loosens things up for Ryan and Germie, helps in the red zone. Excellent grab, and one we clearly wanted because we obviously tampered to get him in there and once he did it was clear he was coming to us.
