Skip back a page... it was the FSU Oline guy who put himself Back into the Transfer Portal...
Landon Dickerson - Redshirt Soph... (often injured - started 7 games as a freshman) but as I said,,, skip back to page 90... see the big pic of #69 in the FSU jersey+

Same pic used by Tim also at this link... FSU OL Landon Dickerson back in the transfer portal By 247Sports |May 23, 2019 By: Josh Newberg | Noles247

quote:
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (247Sports) -- Florida State offensive lineman Landon Dickerson is back in the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to a report from SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic.

This isn’t his first time in the portal. Dickerson entered his name back on Feb. 13 and removed it on Feb. 18. Currently, Dickerson has his name in the portal with a “Do Not Contact” designation.

Dickerson, a redshirt sophomore last season at FSU, sprained an ankle in the season opener against Virginia Tech. He returned versus Louisville, but suffered an 'unspecified injury' in that game and did not return the rest of the season. He only appeared in a total of two games in 2018. In 2017, Dickerson started the first two games before missing the final nine due to injury. He started seven games as a true freshman in 2016, but had his season cut short due to an ACL tear.

It’s unclear at this time if Dickerson fully intends to transfer. He can still remove his name for the portal at any time.

Coming out of high school, Dickerson was a 4-star prospect, the No. 4 ranked OT in the country and the 31st best player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Four schools pushing the hardest for Texas DL Alfred Collins Sam Spiegelman • Rivals.com

quote:

Soft-spoken Alfred Collins - Rivals has a big game, so it's no wonder suitors are lining up and standing out as the summer approaches.

The talented defensive lineman out of Cedar Creek (Texas) High School named Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M as the four schools pushing hardest for his commitment at the moment. That quartet of schools has established good relationships with the big-time prospect and are in line for official visits.

Officials are currently being scheduled for June.

Collins broke down the latest in his recruitment with Rivals.
IN HIS OWN WORDS

On Texas: "They're pushing pretty hard. We have a pretty good relationship and I like them. They tell me how big of a priority I am over there and how I'd be taken care of, that I would get what I need. The last time I was there, I was hanging out with a lot of the other recruits and I could tell they all liked it, too."

On Oklahoma: "They love how athletic I am, how I'd fit into their system. I'm in touch with them a lot and they talk to me a lot. They send me motivational stuff. The last visit (in March) was a good visit. I sat in for a practice, which was good. I noticed it was kind of a small campus, homey. The football team was aggressive and I liked that."

On Texas A&M
: "It's a good relationship, but it's been a while since I visited. I missed the spring game, so I need to go up there and hang out with them for a little bit. They have been telling me how good of a fit I'd be there, how they like big defensive ends. They're coming pretty hard and I like how honest they are. They tell you what it is. I asked about playing time and they said I had to work for it and nothing is given."

On Alabama: "It's been good. They have been talking to me about how physical I can be, how athletic I could be. Coach (Jeff) Banks and Coach (Brian) Baker came to practice. They've hit me up once a week and now they're in touch pretty consistently. They loved how aggressive I was and the energy I played with."

On LSU: "LSU has been pushing pretty hard. They came up to my school this spring and we've talked a good amount -- about how the purple and the gold would look good on me and how good of a fit I'd be in their defense, and how my athleticism would stand out in their defense. They said my aggression is a good fit for the SEC."
RIVALS REACTION

Collins is tentatively eyeing official visits to Alabama and Texas in June. He would like to return to Texas A&M in the fall to catch a game and Oklahoma is certain to get the fourth official, but he has no specific dates in mind yet. He's unsure about who'll get the final official visit.

The Cedar Creek defensive end is in no rush to make a decision and instead prefers waiting it out. He wants to keep forging these relationships with coaches and see what's standing out. Collins would also like to make all of his official visits before settling on one school.

Collins is weighing education and a path to the NFL as the two biggest factors.

Collins has frequented Texas' campus most often. His last trip to Oklahoma was in March and A&M in December. He has yet to make it to Tuscaloosa, which will change with an official visit.

Four-star WR EJ Williams breaks finalists, names a leader Chad Simmons • Rivals.com @ChadSimmons_

Formerly pay for view article is free...
quote:

...Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee made the list.

..."If I had to say a school at the top right now, it would be Alabama," said Williams. "I don't really have a full list of the schools 1-7, but Alabama is on top.

'I have been there about six or seven times, I know how they do things and Alabama is a great program. I had a great conversation with coach Nick Saban last week and we had a great talk about the overall program. Alabama has had a lot of success, they put guys into the NFL and I would have to say they are No. 1 for me right now."

On August 24, in honor of his father's passing, Williams will announce his decision. He will be ready. He has a big summer ahead and that will help him make that decision.

"The summer is important to me. I have some important visits to take and I will keep talking to coaches trying to get my mind made up.

"I know for sure I will be committing August 24 and once I commit, I am done with recruiting. I will not visit other schools or anything like that. I will know for sure where I want to go on August 24."

Alabama's Top 25 Most Important Players for 2019: No. 24 BamaOnLine By Charlie Potter
quote:

For a fifth consecutive offseason, BamaOnLine is counting down Alabama’s top 25 most important players ahead of the Crimson Tide’s fast-approaching fall camp and 2019 football season.

We continue our rankings with quarterbacks Mac Jones and Taulia Tagovailoa at No. 24.

*** Breakdown of Alabama’s Top-25 Most Important Players for 2019: Two things went into consideration in this breakdown. One was how much the player would see the field this fall. With that condition, the list is primarily made up of starters. The second aspect is the player’s importance to the team, meaning if they are replacing a starter at a key position and how hard it would be to replace them should something occur to force them out of commission.

JONES PROFILE
Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 205 pounds

Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla. High School: The Bolles School

247Sports Composite ranking: 3-star (2017)
- No. 399 nationally
- No. 18 pro-style quarterback
- No. 52 in state of Florida
TAGOVAILOA PROFILE

Height: 5-foot-11 Weight: 211 pounds

Hometown: Alabaster, Ala. High School: Thompson

247Sports Composite ranking: 4-star (2019)
- No. 180 nationally
- No. 5 pro-style quarterback
- No. 8 in state of Alabama
2019 OUTLOOK

Alabama exited the 2018 season needing a new backup quarterback. Jalen Hurts is now in Norman, Okla., and will suit up for the Oklahoma Sooners this fall. While the Crimson Tide has its starting signal caller back for another year in Tua Tagovailoa, last year proved that having a capable backup was a luxury for Alabama -- and one many other teams would have enjoyed possessing.

Entering the spring, Jones looked like the favorite to lock down the No. 2 spot, and the redshirt sophomore didn’t waste his opportunity with a strong end to the 15-practice slate. He threw for an A-Day Game-high 271 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-23 passing and led the White team to a 31-17 win over the Crimson squad to cap the spring. But he wasn’t alone on the White team.

Alabama signed two 4-star quarterback recruits during the 2019 cycle, both of whom were on campus early in Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson. The younger Tagovailoa was the other QB on the White team and threw for 93 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-9 passing in his debut. There were times where Taulia looked like the second-best quarterback on the field other than his brother.

Exiting the spring, the battle for the backup quarterback job will be one of the more interesting for the Tide prior to fall camp and the 2019 season. Neither player has much experience (Jones attempted 13 passes in 2018) but they both showed Nick Saban and company have some options behind Tua Tagovailoa. And with some improvement this offseason, could be solid No. 2s.
WHY NO. 24?

If Tua Tagovailoa stays healthy throughout his junior season, the backup quarterback role will not matter all that much. At least not this year. But the returning starter dealt with hand, knee and ankle injuries from the spring until the end of the 2019 season and even had to leave the SEC Championship Game against Georgia because of it. Hurts led UA to a win after his early exit.

Hurts ranked No. 25 in our re-ranking of the most important players for last year’s team, and because of him, the entire team received SEC title game rings after the A-Day Game. So, an unknown backup with far less experience ranks one spot ahead of the now-Sooner. And to be honest, It has more to do with Tua Tagovailoa’s importance to the team success than anything else.

Plus, there is still work ahead for Jones and Taulia Tagovailoa -- and even Tyson -- this summer.

Saban's Spring comments...we've heard them a hundred times.. "they did well for spring, dont read too much into it...yada yada yada"
WHAT SAY YOU?

*** Below are the players that are ranked below Jones and Tagovailoa at No. 24.
25. PKs Joseph Bulovas and Will Reichard

Nugget on Landon Dickerson Discussion in 'Talk of Champions' started by kyle h, Today at 11:30 AM. This is the same player mentioned on Memorial Day...Tim Watts
quote:

Have a quick nugget on Florida State offensive lineman Landon Dickerson. Dickerson is currently a redshirt sophomore that has put his name in the NCAA transfer portal and sources tell us that Alabama and Texas A&M are possible destinations.

Dickerson was a Rivals.com Four-star and during his time at Florida State he earned playing time starting at the right guard position during his freshman year and during his sophomore year, he earned the starting left guard spot, however, both seasons were cut short due to season-ending injuries.

During the 2018 season, he redshirted after suffering an unspecified injury. Sources tell us that Dickerson would like to play for a pro-style offense and is not happy with new offensive coordinator at Florida State Kendal Briles.

2018 - Unspecified injury season-ending injury (started two games) (Red-shirted)
2017 - Ankle injury (started four games)
2016 - ACL (started eight games)

Anyone want to chime in about Landon Dickerson? Would he be an upgrade to the OLine? know OG has been a position of concern for several seasons, but seems several OT's have been moved inside and there are a number of new guys who seem cut out to be OG... anyone have any idea about whether the staff is entertaining the transfer of a much injured (all 3 seasons) Olineman who may or may not be an upgrade...Anyone? Boz? Bueller?

Alabama among finalists for nation's No. 1 player BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

Five teams remain for the nation’s No. 1 overall player, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Five-star running back Zachary Evans (247) cut his list to Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Oklahoma on Twitter Tuesday evening.

The Houston (Texas) North Shore product earned an offer from the Crimson Tide in July of 2017. He’s visited the Capstone three times since, with plans to return at some point in the month of June — possibly as early as this upcoming weekend.

"Them, it's just them all around,” Evans told 247Sports of Alabama recently. “They're going to be compete. They lose some, they win some. You're going to come there and compete and be the best."

Alabama has had success recruiting elite backs in recent years. Since 2015, the Tide has signed either the No. 1 or 2-ranked running back each recruiting cycle expect for 2018.

247Sports compares Evans to Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon.
Dynamically athletic running back with prototype size and frame potential relative to the position. Owns college-ready build with frame space to add more bulk. Flashes elite athleticism verified in combine testing environment. Makes it look easy, sometimes to the point that it's deceptive. Shows great top-end speed and outstanding close-quarters lateral mobility confirmed by a 3.91 shuttle. Flashes devastating start-stop-start ability in close quarters, coupled with impressive hesitation stutter. Effortlessly strings moves together in the open field to elude multiple defenders. Chameleon in ability to alter running styles, going from elusive darter to hole-punching, straight-line galloper. Home run hitter with high-volume capability. Patient and presses the line of scrimmage to set up blocks. Size and strength potential could provide high ceiling in blitz pickup. At times dances in the backfield rather than accelerating through the hole. Sometimes an upright runner who presents a bigger target. Does not always finish runs with expected strength. Will try to bounce runs too often. Could get on the field immediately at high-major level and become a Power 5 star, in addition to first-round NFL Draft ceiling.

At 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, Evans has verified 4.51 40 speed, a 3.84 shuttle time, and a 37.20-inch vertical jump.

The Tide has one running back committed in its 2020 class already in four-star, in-state standout Roydell Williams.

From previous postings: The Important part of this recruiting effort... Zach Evans has said many times he was going where Damieon decides to go.... see article here The Dotted Line: Teammates Zach Evans, Damieon George discuss recruiting, Texas

quote: HOUSTON — Galena Park North Shore teammates Zachary Evans and Damieon George reaffirmed their intentions to commit to the same football program as spring practice began for the defending Class 6A Division I state champions.

(Last reported Damieon was down to Texas and Bama... with Texas not listed in Zach's final 5...seems either they have split or it's Bama for both)

Glad we're still in although I'm sure UGA will back the brink truck up.

We need to get his OT teammate and secure this kid. He will be great.

Alabama commit Brian Branch to visit Georgia and Oklahoma Chad Simmons • Rivals.com @ChadSimmons_
quote:

It has been just over a month since Brandon Branch (Rivals) committed to Alabama. The soon-to-be four-star defensive back out of Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek has not shut his recruitment down though.

He is still in contact with a school that was a finalist for him when he made a decision, and a new school has entered the race this spring.

"Things have been going good with Alabama, but Oklahoma has never backed off and Georgia has come in with an offer, so there are some other schools still in there," said Branch.

"I am going to take another visit to Oklahoma, then visit Georgia one or two times during the season, so I am still looking at those two schools."

Oklahoma has been involved, but Georgia has not. The Sooners were a finalist for the Peach State defensive back, but Georgia came in just a few weeks ago.

Are the Bulldogs too late?

"Georgia admitted that they came in late. Coach [Charlton] Warren told me they should have been recruiting me from the jump, so he is now going to try his best to get me over there and to give them a look.

"I am not sure if I will take an official visit to Georgia yet, but I do know I will be there for a game and take a look at them. They put guys in the league too, they say they are DBU too, so they just want to get me over there. I have been talking to coach Warren a good bit and I am going to give Georgia a chance."

Tennessee finished second in the race for Branch, and the Vols have fallen off in this race, but the Sooners have never slowed things down despite the commitment to the Crimson Tide.

"I have stayed in contact with Oklahoma since I committed to Alabama. Their coaches just keep saying they need defensive backs and they need guys like me to help take their secondary to the next level.

"I am in regular contact with their coaches, that has never changed and I am going to get back out there. I have already taken my official visit there, so it will be an unofficial visit for a game. They are like a big family there and that stands out to me, so they have never gone away."

Branch will be back at Alabama in June at least once, then he plans to return in July. His relationship with the coaches in Tuscaloosa continues to grow.

"I talk to coach [Charles] Kelly about three times a week, I talk to other coaches on the staff and I recently had a FaceTime with coach [Nick] Saban," said Branch. "We are always in contact and that is great. I have really gotten to know them pretty well already.

"I will camp there this summer and go over there to hang out some. I will spend a lot of time with the coaches the next couple of months."

It will not be easy for Georgia or Oklahoma to flip the versatile defensive back, but this one is not over.

"I haven't signed the dotted lines yet, so nothing is official with Alabama. I am keeping my options open a little.

"I still feel good about my commitment, but nothing is done yet."

would have thought that aTm would have gone all out for him? Maybe he just wants the heck out of Texas? Anyway, way more interesting about how D. George is listing Bama and Texas as final (top) two and Evans doesn't list Texas at all... will be interesting to see if the "we go together" sticks and they actually do commit and sign at the same school, seems this rarely works???

Alabama Football: 2019 Crimson Tide Season Preview and Prediction By Athlon Sports, 5/28/19, 9:30 AM EDT
quote:

The Crimson Tide rank No. 1 in Athlon's Top 25 for 2019

A new reality faces Alabama after what happened in January. Its decade-long stranglehold on college football has loosened, with Clemson now staking claim to the unofficial title as the best program in the nation. That 44–16 national title dethroning led to changes in the Alabama football complex, with seven new coaches stepping into roles for 2019. It also changed the mindset of everyone who returned, since no Nick Saban-coached Alabama team had lost a game by more than 14 points during his time in Tuscaloosa. Regaining the "Alabama Factor" has been a talking point of Saban’s during the offseason.

...Check out the article for the middle of the analysis...

Final Analysis
Despite being humbled in the national title game last season, Alabama is still an elite program that expects to reach the College Football Playoff on an annual basis.

This team does have a few question marks — the offensive line, depth across the board on defense — but Alabama will once again begin the season with a No. 1 national ranking and will have its sights set on winning the sixth national title of the Saban era.

USA Today updates college football top 25 By Sam Hellman May 26, 7:21 AM
quote:

College football saw plenty of change in spring football. Schools like Northwestern, Auburn and Ohio State prepare to move forward with a new big-name quarterback. Some programs said goodbye to key talents (or added some) with another wave of transfer portal action.

What does it mean for the top 25?

At the top, does Clemson belong as the preseason No. 1 after its 15-0 season or do the returning weapons for Alabama bode well for the Crimson Tide?

Here is how the preseason rankings shake out heading into summer workouts.

25. Wisconsin
24. Baylor
23. Syracuse
22. Boise State
21. Penn State
20. Army
19. Nebraska
18. Stanford
17. Northwestern
16. Auburn
15.Iowa State
14. UCF
13. Florida
12. Washington
11. Notre Dame
10. Texas
9. Oregon
8. Texas A&M
7. LSU
6. Michigan
5. Ohio State
4. Oklahoma
3. Georgia
2. Alabama

Alabama fell from the No. 1 spot in the USA Today rankings with the changes on the coaching staff as the biggest development of the offseason. Nick Saban’s new staff, however, is in place with no signs of slowing down. The Crimson Tide are again projected to win the conference and make a College Football Playoff. The hype will again surround Tua Tagovailoa after a runner-up finish in the Heisman Trophy race. But how about Jerry Jeudy? The wide receiver could be one of the best. Alabama has a slew of weapons on offense, and the return of players like Raekwon Davis and Trevon Diggs is big on the other side of the ball. Can any player step up to replace the disruption caused by Quinnen Williams?

CBS Sports says, “The spring provided a look at the Tide's revamped and overhauled coaching staff, even if a few key faces — such as offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian — aren't new to the program. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Alabama and Clemson are the nation's best teams entering the summer.”
1. Clemson
The Tigers climbed ahead of Alabama in the USA Today preseason rankings. Clemson must rebuild its defensive line. Recruiting has been so strong under Dabo Swinney that the Tigers are expected to be just fine in the front seven. Offensively, this might be the most-frightening offense in school history. Trevor Lawrence (30 touchdowns, 3,280 yards), Justyn Ross (1,000 yards, nine touchdowns), Tee Higgins (936 yards 12 touchdowns) and Travis Etienne (1,736 yards, 26 touchdowns) are all back as well as four starters on the offensive line.

CBS Sports says, “It's all sunshine and rainbows in the wake of the program's latest national championship. Not that everything is peachy: Clemson lost wide receiver Amari Rodgers to an ACL tear in March, potentially robbing the offense of an all-conference weapon. Rodgers is a good one, but I think Trevor Lawrence and the Tigers will be OK.”
