Clemson football was also discussed via wiretap by Clemson basketball asst coach Steve Smith like this, in relation to Zion hoops recruitment: "That's why football is so successful, is if you do it and use resources at Clemson, like you can really keep everything tight."

Hope Hank is correct.

So Mack Wilson and Deionte Thompson left early for at best fourth round selection and money?

I'm all for the players making their move, but sometimes patience is the smart play.

Both guys checked out mentally late in the season. They should have stayed, but we'll be better off without them. I don't usually say things like that, but when someone isn't doing the things they need to do to be successful - talented or not - it's going to have a bad effect.

I can’t believe Thompson checked out. I don’t see that. But Wilson definitely did.

Thompson 100 percent checked out. He got burnt in the last 3 games of the season on multiple big plays. Got caught flat footed too much and creeping up. A free safety is not supposed to get beat deep like that.

Saivion might as well go apply at the nearest car dealership

Thompson was preserving himself for the draft. Strictly from an observational point of view. Several of our players seemed to have had this mindset and result was evident in the final games. Saban even alluded to this.
It creates a leadership vacuum when players are distracted. We hardly saw any tangible leadership qualities this year.

Ed Zackery...….he would have been better off to NOT have even played after the SECCG.

Not roster/recruiting related but that video of Julio being there for Nick with his rehab is pretty awesome. JJ could literally be doing anything else with his time and yet he wanted to support his old coach.

Boy is this draft proving Saban's point about not leaving early unless you have a solid first round grade. Wilson AND Thompson going in the 5th round...
If they play out their rookie contracts they still make millions, but that's a big if. Just as big an 'if' as making it through another year in college healthy in order to get a higher draft grade. Not an easy choice, I'm sure, but this (5th round) just looks quite bad.

my biggest gripe against saban is, he wont pull a starter late in the season regardless of how bad he's playing. i prefer a backup make mental mistakes, but giving me 100% to a vet knowing what to do, but refusing to give 100%. i know i'm proly in the minority on this, but thats ok.

LSU picked up Rakim Jarrett at WR today.

Bama got another CB for ATH Darnell Washington, while WR target Julian Fleming picked up 2 to Clemson.

Two 5-star WRs from DC and California, respectively, committed to a program that can't pass the ball. Yet, their bozo fans will be ranting and raving in January and February about how it doesn't make sense that Bama, who has won 5 NCs in a decade and put far more 1st rounders and total players in the NFL than anyone else, is signing recruits. Makes perfect sense.

Rakim Jarrett to LSU is a shocker. No real QB and no passing game to speak of and WR's from all over the country can't wait to sign up....hmmmm. Reminds me of Ole Miss with the Reverend. Is Will,Wade recruiting for the Football team too?

Charles Huff is supposed to be in VA visiting Antoine Sampah some time early this week, I believe. I think we have a very good shot there.
