Wren has more upside as a passrusher, but he decommitted from Arkansas out of HS because he wanted to play WR.

Hopefully he's wised up since...

I figured after being in the playoffs for the last 4 years and beating us twice.. once by 28.. that claim was long gone. They are more on the verge of if they are a dynasty claim now.

Who could commit to Alabama next? (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama has steadily stockpiled talent this spring throughout the Southeast. Guys like Seth McLaughlin, De'Rickey Wright, and Brian Branch have all joined the Crimson Tide’s class in recent weeks, extending Nick Saban staff’s lead atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.

Sitting with 15 members, and a little less than eight months — an eternity in recruiting — from the Early Signing Period, there are still plenty of twists and turns to come as Alabama looks to fill out its 2020 signing class.

Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at a handful of prospects that could join the Tide’s class next... (more)

Interesting the number of 3 star players committed... Last year seems like Tanner Bowles and Will Reichard were the only two ...then Tanner got upgraded.

Time for a mass entrance of the 5 star guys...

Alabama offers four-star 2021 OL Blake Fisher VIP BamaOnLine By Allen Trieu
Hank South Retweeted Allen Trieu @AllenTrieu (Looks like he could use a big dose of Coach Cochran; Rivals lists him at 330#)

#Alabama is the latest offer for Avon (Ind.) 2021 6-foot-6, 300-pound OT Blake Fisher, and he has family in the state. (VIP)link above

All 3 presently have talk that they're much better than their ranking suggest.

If De'Rickey Wright had a defined position, he'd be a consensus 4*. He's super athletic, but he's another former athlete that played QB trying to find his college position.

I know that Saban don't give a shitte about the ranking services, he looks at the players as "will this guy fit our need and play winning football?" and goes with "His Evaluation"... but so many get caught up in the "#1 according to Rivals" "#1 according to 247" "#1 according to ESPN" etc... Guess I do to, to a certain extent.

The little ole Clemson thing was a joke. Dabo still uses the aw shucks approach so I was being sarcastic. Down vote away, though.

Tide makes 4-star QB's top schools list - BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

Alabama is one of the last teams standing for Malik Hornsby.

The four-star dual-threat quarterback released his top eight on Wednesday night, a list that included: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Houston, North Carolina, Oregon, SMU, and Texas A&M, in no particular order.

Ranked the nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, Hornsby received an offer from the Crimson Tide staff shortly after Steve Sarkisian returned to Tuscaloosa as offensive coordinator.

Hornsby is rated the No. 116 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

hit the link above to see all that written..not much other that what is quoted here tho

quote:

Alabama on the hunt for a quarterback in its 2020 class. Aside from Hornsby, others in the mix include five-star USC commit Bryce Young and three-star Fresno State commit Jaden Casey, among others.

Here's 247Sports' scouting report on Hornsby:

Thinner signal caller who should add substantial weight and muscle to his frame once he gets in a college strength and conditioning program. A track athlete with verified top-end speed. Has yet to transfer that athleticism into a combine setting, but has opportunities to show that during the 2019 offseason. Missed a handful of games to begin his junior season due to a transfer appeal, but hit the ground running. Ultimately led his team to a state title appearance. Presents a dynamic run threat as the triggerman to an explosive spread offense. Owns a strong arm with the ability to stretch the field vertically. At his most dangerous when allowed to present defenses with run-pass conflict via the RPO game or on broken plays. Capable of pulling away from defenses once he breaks free. Undeveloped as a passer in terms of mechanical consistency and situational awareness. Could stand to tighten up his throwing motion. While still raw as a passer, has immense upside. Projects as a Power 5 starter with the ultimate upside of becoming a NFL Draft pick with steady development.

Anyone know If he elucidated on his pick?

There was a lot of confidence on Arik Gilbert that has seemingly evaporated, wondering what Hank heard to put in his pick for Washington.

As far as Gilbert - his QB committed to 10rc and is working him to join him there... but Bone says that Gilbert is planning on returning to Bama in the summer probably for the cookout? (he was there last year) and all indications are Bama makes his top 5 (will compete for NC's there)

Washington loves the tradition of putting 5* players in the league "they put like 50% in the league where other schools put like 20%" it's their history and tradition..
