Is he for the class of 2020?
Posted on 1/19/20 at 10:29 pm to Carlton
Oh I didn't know that was an option. What's the point of that one? Why post if you are undecided? Is it because he changed his pick?
Posted on 1/19/20 at 10:35 pm to My2Bits
Yes he changed it from a previous CB but I don't know what his orginal prediction was.

They have contacted him for sure . Just hired Freddie Roach back too who was his main contact with previous staff
Would love to land this kid . Dominated the MS/Al game

Generally speaking, Yancy's CB picks aren't worth paying much attention to, imo.

OM has been recruiting Jackson for quite a while, but Jackson did say recently (at the All-American event, iirc) that Kiffin hadn't personally contacted him after getting the OM HC job. To be fair, Kiffin was probably just too busy filling out his staff and posting on twitter.

But wait! A new twist regarding Freddie Roach...
quote:
"Coach Roach is the guy. He's the man," (McKinnley) Jackson said in an interview last month.

Rumor is LSU defensive line coach Johnson is going to Baylor with Aranda. Can't hurt with Jackson

Carlton: I believe he changed his CB for McKinnley Jackson from Ole Miss to Undecided (if memory serves).

Ive always wondered why we dont go after some of our old guys. Like when i looked at the coach recruiting rankings one of the old Clemson Coaches is a old player and is doing great. Also Dameco Ryans is doing well for the 49ers.

You are referring to Todd Bates:

I agree: it's good to bring in Bama guys. They know the Alabama Standard. Less risk of hiring a bad fit.
I say: Derrick Ansley and Glenn Schumann!

Elite DL talks return trip to Bama with decision approaching (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:
Arguably Alabama’s biggest visitor of the weekend in terms of remaining targets, McKinnley Jackson, made his way back to Tuscaloosa on Saturday for an unofficial visit. “It was real fun. It was kind of like another official visit, but it was unofficial. Just got the feel for what’s the plan for me if I go to Bama.”
The four-star defensive lineman spent the night in T-Town before leaving on Sunday morning. The visit capped off a long weekend spent with the Tide both at home and on campus. On Friday, Pete Golding and defensive line coach Brian Baker were in Mississippi to visit with Jackson.
The visit to UA this weekend marked the third time Jackson has been to the Capstone since September. He talked about the conversation had with the UA head coach over the weekend. “Just the plan for me if I go to Alabama on and off the field,” Jackson said. “They want to put me on the field, helping me be the best I can be.”
The All-American defender has visited Bama many times in the past before that. “All my questions for Alabama have been answered every time from my freshman year until now,” he said. “I really don’t have anymore questions. It’s just going to be about where I feel best.”
With Sunday evening’s developments surrounding the potential addition of former Alabama linebacker and current Ole Miss assistant Freddie Roach to the Crimson Tide’s staff, it should be noted that Roach is the primary recruiter for Jackson from the Rebels staff and a coach he has a strong relationship with. "Coach Roach is the guy. He's the man," Jackson said in an interview last month.
With two weekends to go until National Signing Day, Jackson will be at LSU next before rounding out his official visit slate at Texas A&M at the end of the month. He says there won’t be any mid-week official visits. Both Alabama and Auburn already hosted the four-star DL on officials in the fall.
“I knew it was going to get crazy, but I didn’t want to let it get to my head,” he said of his recruitment of late. “It’s all about just management of it, equalizing everything out.” Jackson added the race for his signature is down to Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU and Auburn. Nick Saban is expected in Mississippi on Thursday to visit Jackson.

Did David Johnson(Ole Miss 247) give any reason on why he picked Bama for Crystal Ball? I assume he has some connenctions that he heard from or some reason that led him to pull the trigger on bama.

I think it's cool to have Bama guys on staff, but not at the expense of nepotism. If they're the best for the job it's one thing.
Other than his poem potentially still being the weight room, Todd Bates has no connection to Saban's Alabama that I'm aware of.
Bates is in a good spot for Clemson, still one of the hottest teams in America. Though I don't think he'd make or break them if he left.
