Lockdown Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw CBd to Bama by a Mich. St. mod. He had initially scheduled OVs to Miami and Mich. St. during Jan., but switched to Bama and GA OVs instead.

This is what stood out to me:
Kyle Edwards - 310 carries for 1,863 yards and 27 touchdowns (no fumbles)

I've made it clear I don't think tight end is a need position for us this year, but it's pretty hilarious and flat out weird that we are going to lose out on 2 TE prospects to Auburn of all people (assuming we are pushing for Frazier, no clue if we are).

It is amazing how little development plays into the decisions of some kids.

I have come to accept the reality that, for most recruits at least, scheme fit is 100% irrelevant. Three things actually matter. Early playing time, distance from home, personal relationships with the coaches. I'm not saying that they all matter to every kid or that they matter equally, but they are the only factors that actually do matter. Because scheme fit is something that coaches can bullshite about. Sure there is basically zero evidence from the past decade that Auburn actually uses a TE, but "We don't do X,Y,Z because we haven't had a player like you" is one of the oldest recruiting pitches out there after money, cars, and girls. Distance from home, the depth chart, and relationships with the staff aren't really things that they can bullshite about though. It's either in your favor or it isn't. I think in Auburn's case Pegues' dad was coached by someone on Auburn's staff and Frazier is going to end up there because they hired Morris.

Yeah, I'm not knocking a kid for choosing UGA as they're a great program...but one of the reasons he stated for choosing them was "...how much I trust having their offense getting me to the next level..." This kinda threw me; Isaac Nauta was 5-star TE at UGA , he was under-utilized and was a 7th round draft pick. Between our last two starting TEs (OJ & Irv), one was selected in the first round and the other in the second.

UGA has now had two of the last three 5-star TEs under Kirby's reign, with no history of developing one. Just goes to show how well that man can recruit...

kind of like a used car salesman getting you to focus on the great rims, while the engine is knocking.
