I don't think being 1 or 2 is that big of a deal other than fan bravado. The biggest concern is did they address the needs at LB and with numbers it appears so. Hopefully they did not miss on their evaluations. TE, WR and Dl seem to be a bit of a miss but Saint or Surg would know better than me.

All you have to do is look at Clemson. They have not been the number one class, but they fill their needs. Doesn’t hurt that they play in the ACC either. And in.

Just saw where Christian Bell is transferring from Wisconsin. What happened with him at Alabama?

Doesn't look like he could make it on the field in Madison.

Also, in.

Clemson’s rankings would actually shock you. People think they have just been destroying recruiting during the Dabo run, but this is the FIRST Top 5 class they have had....

2020: #1 (Bama #2)
2019: #10 (Bama #1)
2018: #7 (Bama #5)
2017: #16 (Bama #1)
2016: #11 (Bama #1)
2015: #9 (Bama #1)
2014: #16 (Bama #1)
2013: #15 (Bama #1)
2012: #20 (Bama #1)
2011: #10 (Bama #1)

Even our disastrous 2018 class, we finished ahead of them. That was the year they got Lawrence and Ross.

Clemson is filling their needs and developing their kids very well. I also think they are very good at finding underrated kids and hidden gems. Yes, they have the advantage of playing in the ACC but the results speak for themselves. We can pooh pooh their methods and their outcomes all we want but the bottom line is they are going toe to toe with the best in college football and winning more than they are losing.

Clemson very rarely takes a full class, which causes their class ranking to be lower. I think if you look at the average rating from their classes they'll be comparable.

In that 2018 class, for example, they only took 17 guys.

Absolutely a fair point. Good staff, little coaching turnover. We need to get some of that back.

LINK ]2020 All-American Bowl: Predictions for every player announcing (247Sports | segment)
quote:

Third Quarter

Two of the nation’s top receivers will let their plans be known in the third quarter in the No. 9 player at the position in Gary Bryant Jr. and the No. 10 pass catcher LINK ]Xzavier Henderson.

Henderson’s announcement will come first and Florida has garnered the majority of the predictions in the last week. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and LSU are among the other schools Henderson is considering. Dan Mullen and his guys are looking to land the No. 8 class in America.

Clemson also has pretty locked down NC & SC, at least in who they want. The states are not loaded but have some top players each year. Which is interesting when there are 5 other P5 programs in those states as well.
