Hall, it was Retin Obasohan. There was also very noticeable improvement from guys who spent more than a year in the program like Jimmy Taylor and Riley Norris. You just didn't see that under Anthony Grant.
Im not arguing that Avery can or cannot develop talent. You werent very convincing listing those 3 guys.Grant had a hand in developing them id say.I Agree Grant sucked btw but lets not get carried away.

This is a huge stretch, Bird.
Hes a good shooter, but nowhere even close to a top ten list imho.
Emphasis on stretches, Chad I was referring more to just pure 3pt shooters. I'd also try not to take anything I say too literally. When he got hot, he couldn't miss even when he took some of the worst, deepest and most awkward and contested shots a player could possibly take. I'm by no means calling him Stephen Curry or Jimmer Fredette as he doesn't have the handle nor a fraction of the consistency they had. But I will add that those kind of ball-handling shooters benefit tremendously by being able to do more than just shoot. If the only footage and stats of Petty that were available were those games where he scored 20+ points (AU, Ala A&M, and VT), he'd be just as coveted by NBA scouts as any pure shooter we've witnessed.

Ok so we’re gonna need an offseason thread to talk Bama Hoops. I’m addicfed and can’t let it go. Do we start a new one or does TomRollTideRitter want to turn the recruiting thread into a “Recruiting and Offseason” thread?

Grant didn't develop any inside guys, but Releford, Cooper, and Randolph all developed under him, so this really isn't fair to Grant. Releford's development in his shooting was incredible. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn his freshman year, but was clutch by his senior year.

Looks like Pittsburgh on a Saturday in March just isn't for underdogs.

Hall is obviously a great (and easy) example, but I think you have to look at Galin Smith as the most improved player. He took all of Giddens minutes in the last couple games and his offensive game really developed. Credit to him and the staff for that improvement

Does any else feel like Ingram developed a DGAF attitude when Collin arrived? I mean he had some moments but he also had a ton of mega boneheaded plays and just never looked fully invested in the team. If anything, he may have regressed from last year. Not sure if he changes his tune with Collin’s departure or the attitude stays. Am I wrong?

ingram is not very good. bounces the ball too high on the dribble. poor shooter from the field and the FT line. can’t drive the lane. leaves his feet too much. not very quick.
none of that will change regardless of what sexton does.

You lost credibility when u said bad free throw shooter and can't drive the lane. He needs to cut out the mental errors for sure though.
Posted on 3/17/18 at 5:08 pm to Bamainva40
I mean he's a career 67% free throw shooter. He's certainly not good from the line.

Is this where we come to talk about firing the coach? We did lose, you know?
Posted on 3/17/18 at 5:15 pm to coachcrisp
our last 2 losses were by 23 points.

To Kentucky and Nova, two programs with title appearances in the past three years. One of which went undefeated until the Title game.
Are we really going to whine about that?

it was a statement DA. It was factual also. Why is it when a fan posts a statement assholes like you have to accuse me of whining.

Facts may be facts but some people are gonna be negative no matter what. We lost to probably the best team in the country today, perspective man.

Maybe the above was a general reply?
If not, point me in the direction where I have not shown perspective for todays game.

I agree.
Here's some more perspective- I start getting my MBA this summer. Until two days ago, I hadn't seen us win a tournament game since elementary school.
This season was a step in the right direction. Does Avery have some flaws? Yes, but on the whole, he's done a solid job here and has us heading the right way.

The Vols are struggling

I wish we'd gotten paired with any other one seed than Villanova. Kansas is trash for a 1 seed. Auburn got a fantastic draw.
