Probably not. MSU is the lone team to beat Uconn in like years.

If we could get out of the Hump without being dominated it would be nice.

A close loss would be as moral a victory as you could hope for.

An actual victory would signal this team is on the cusp of something special.

I mean if you want to give me money for my generosity, I won't say no but I just want them to go to someone who will show up and be loud.

I got drunk and decided to make an appearance after the game. How do you feel about Avery? Personally, I'm not a fan. If he could teach them how to play effective defense we'd be OK long term with the talent he is likely to bring in, but I don't think he can.

Bryant I follow you on twitter and seem like you have no problem calling out Avery. How about calling heycoach on Monday and ask why doesn't his son know how to go left or can't break down a defender lol.

I'm not really in his corner anymore. I'm actually very negative.

I was negative against Avery at the end of last season and a few on here took my head off.

I was never a huge fan of the hire. It was outside the box and probably the best we could have done after Battle fricked everything up so badly, but there's a reason a lifelong NBA guy with ample HC experience couldn't get a job coaching in a league that loves retreads as much as the NBA.

We've been a pretty good defensive team under Avery

Alabama Ladies give Miss State an early scare, get pummeled in the middle and scrape back to a respectable-ish defeat to the 17-0 #4 team in the country, on the road.

Bama 61
MSU 75

Up next is the Aggies in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. A win vs A&M would inch Alabama into the upper half of the SEC, a place they haven't dwelled since the heydays of Rick Moody.

Other than the loss, the sour note of the night was forward Ashley Williams, colliding her head with an MSU player. She did not get up and had to be taken out on a stretcher and taken immediately to the local hospital for precautionary measures.

I'll admit that I was a very big fan of the hire, considering we were just burned by Marshall's wife (who we've now come to realize is insane). One of those reasons was recruiting, which ironically was one of the reasons the hire was questioned by certain analysts. How some people didn't think a former NBA coach of the year with a dynamite personality would be able to recruit is beyond me. The fact he pulled off a 67-win regular season looking back at that Mavs team is pretty impressive so there's at least some evidence of solid coaching.

Honestly, I'm surprised he wasn't picked up again in the NBA. He led the Mavs to their best regular season ever (67-15) and 7th best NBA record of all time. I get that he lost in the first round, but that same team that beat them went 3-0 against them in the regular season (screams bad matchup). Nets fired the guy after they finally got him talent to compete, but only 28 (14-14) games into the season with a completely new roster.

The biggest question mark for me going into his first season is how he'd adapt to playing against a zone (something NBA coaches don't have to worry about). So far, the answer is not great. I think he realizes now more than ever that he has to recruit more pure shooters. It's nearly impossible to bust a zone if you don't have them. Not being able to hit open 3s absolutely sinks an offense. Case in point, just look at what happened to Top 5 A&M when they lost their only shooters.

I think he could still be a good coach, but he has been pretty disappointing this season. Hopefully, they've turned a corner the last 2 games.

In the NBA the best coaches have the best players. Avery won with Dirk in his prime. Very overrated Xs and Os guy.

Love this take. 67-15 is better than any record LeBron James (who's played with super-star supporting casts like Wade, Bosh, Love, Irving, etc.) has produced in his career. Nowitzki was an awesome player, but is nowhere near the talent James has been in just about every year of his career (except maybe his first 2 years) and Dirk's best supporting player was Josh Howard (a fringe all-star invite for one year) who had by far his best seasons under Avery Johnson. I get that Avery has disappointed us thus far this year, but that doesn't make what he did that year any less impressive.
