Its Year 5. I wouldn't call expecting better than a bubble spot wanting "Instant Grtification."

It's year 6, actually...but that proves your point even more. I don't see how these people are so confused by that. We are Alabama not some Sunbelt team who throws party and hang up 5 banners for making the NCAAT once in about a 10-15 year span.

Exactly. We aren't expecting Grant to make Final Fours but the expectation for Alabama Basketball should absolutely be higher than what we've seen so far and it should be higher than hoping to be a bubble team every year. Especially when you consider how down the SEC has been lately.

If we end up as a bubble team again, you know we're going to hear "See! Grant made progress this year."

So... you wanted instant gratification, didn't get it and have been crying ever since... great story Bro.

Yes, after supporting his so-so teams the first two years, after that, I was ready for some "instant" gratification in the form of progress. Four years later, when it still hadn't arrived, I showed my immaturity and complained on a message board.

but he's far from a mediocre coach. He often has one of the best Ds in the country. He coaches to his defense which brings down the entertainment factor.

If he wasn't a mediocre coach, he wouldn't have consistently mediocre teams. Maybe you don't know what "mediocre" means.

Man, Bama can't catch a break, huh? I wish we'd get lucky like the teams with good coaches do.

quote:

Grant FINALLY has the right kind of players and attitudes to match his coaching but, all people can do is keep bringing up the past or predict what this season will look like based on the past... Grant has not had to sit a player this year... that's the 1st time that's not happened under his watch. This is apparently a much better TEAM. Maybe some of you can stop sipping your hateraide long enough to realize it.

Based on what? Your bias and hope? I'll believe it when I see it. This team hasn't beaten anyone yet. I'll be surprised if they make the tourney.

but when fans call for coaches jobs I call it hate.

I think we all know what you hate. You're either a troll, or carrying around an agenda of your own.

Boys, we can keep going in this circle all day long but outside of some sort of scandal Grant won't be let go mid-season. So why don't we all just get behind THIS team, and see what happens?

Gonna bump this because of the way CAG butchered that last shot.

Thought he did a good job keeping everybody cool and working us back in to the game. He gave me hope.

Then he called the time out and I knew the ball would never find it's way back inside the three point line.

It would almost be funny if it didn't make me cry .....I'd like to see what our record is when it's a tight game (4 pts) with 2 mins to go.

I have no desire to see that. I'd rather be ignorant.

I'd say we need to make the sweet 16. Just making the tournament shouldn't be enough in year 6, but I'm sure it would be enough considering how little we seem to care about men's basketball.

I knew then that we didn't have a coach that could draw up an offensive play in end game/ late shot clock situations. We still can't call a timeout and have any confidence that the guy can get us a good shot when we have to have one.

yeah, I posted this earlier in the week. Then we had last night. Mediocre is all we will ever be with this guy on the bench.

Its crazy how much better we play offensively when were trailing in the game. Our offense grows so stagnant when were ahead that it's mind blowing, but when were behind we push and try to make plays.

I just don't understand how as a basketball coach at any level you don't have one or two go to plays that you know will get you at least an open look for a basket in late game situations.

If he makes the tournament, Grant stays. That shouldn't be the case but Battle just isn't bold enough to make a move in that situation.

I think there is more support for UA basketball than most people think. Unfortunately, there's just so little energy around the program now.

If we bring a "Good" coach and he turns this ship around you couldn't get a ticket to a home game.
Coach Battle needs to step up and either do his job or gtfo.
