I wonder what would happen if a business owned by a coach, ie Saban's car dealership, wanted a NIL with one of their players.

There are many coaches that either own or are partners in businesses

Will Wade was fired for promising College Basketball players money, and he was fired only because it wasn't legal till the year after he was fired. He should be reinstated.

That’s not how rules/laws work.

You clearly don't know what NIL is. Schools or coaches still can't pay players. NIL comes from the outside. What Wade did is still against the rules.

There was a time when people preferred college over pro ball, because you didn't hear about $ contracts and players changing teams.

The CBA, CAPs applies to salaries provided by the NFL/NHL/MLB, etc.. There is no limit in any major sport on NIL. Just ask Lebron James, I'm certain he gets a crapload money more from endorsements than his actual NBA salary.

I'm personally fine with a cap, but I doubt it would fly legally with the Supreme Court's ruling last year that opened the NIL faucet. But something MUST be done to control NIL, because it's now the Wild West and the game is being ruined. My excitement level for this fall is far less than it's been in the past. The game is too different.

There definitely needs to be a cap or it will end up killing College Football.

This is THE answer. Yea, you can make money up to a point. Everybody has a cap. It legitimizes NIL and stops this ridiculous 3Mill for a 10 second radio spot. I think this is where we eventually end up.

How long do you think that last before someone says you cant limit their worth. Its going to be the same thing that we ran into before.

That is why there is a union and a CBA because the players figured out that for the good of whatever sport they are in, they need to collectively agree to limit their own pay with a salary cap (for the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS at least). If not, it will create a death spiral that will destroy the money making college sports (and eventually take away the funding from the ones that don't make money).
