Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck shocked the world by retiring after his team's preseason game against the Bears on Saturday night. The 29-year-old, 4-time Pro Bowler had three years remaining on his five-year, $122 million contract. So how much is he leaving on the table by walking away?

He earned $97m already. Even after agents and 50% taxes, he has to be sitting on $20m. At conservative 3%, that’s $600k per year. I think he’s ok. I applaud his decision. He doesn’t owe the fans or anybody anything. Good move.

he's got money - a lot of it. Unless he wants to live a very lavish lifestyle, with jets and fleets of cars and homes all over the world, he's got more than enough to last several lifetimes And he's a simple and very smart dude, so I think he can survive with $40M in the bank.

Dude is injured almost every single year in the league. It's like Tony Romo who kept coming back and kept getting injured until he finally just decided to hang it up. The next injury could have possibly ended his career. My guess is that Carson Wentz will be the same in a year or two.

As a Steelers fan, Ben is injured every year and throws too many ints. We should have gotten the QB of the future 2 years ago. I'm still pissed we didn't go all in for Mahomes like I wanted. He would have done just as good in our offense as he did in KC.
