re: Trump doubles down on bringing in 500,000 Chinese students during interview with Hannity

You don’t think there is that amount of Americans who would love to get a STEM degree from Harvard?
Then your issue is with Harvard not accepting them. And chances are, whether you like it or not, the Chinese students meet the academic requirements to get into Harvard that the American kids don’t. Or Harvard simply wants foreign students.
How much does a university charge for out of state tuition and foreign student tuition? That’s driving this more than Trump’s misguided notions on this policy.
I completely agree that we should put Americans (and America) first. But framing that argument as though native students are denied the opportunity is patently false.
I’d love to ask DJT how admitting these kids puts America first, given the security risks given Chinas history of espionage.

We should be figuring out ways to get native born Americans into STEM degree programs instead of relying on a bunch of F1s who don’t even speak fricking English. Even the die hard MAGA folks should see that there’s a problem with this
What’s stopping American students from “getting into” these programs now? I’ll answer it for you: nothing. They don’t want to pursue it.
I think Trump is as dead wrong in this issue as he was on Covid. Another subject he got completely swindled on. But don’t act like these Chicom kids are taking spots. Universities are so fricking greedy, they’ll take anyone for anything at all. As long as the check clears.
I think he’s absolutely wrong on this and we will regret his decision. He really needs some better advice on this issue.

And if it’s so great, why are you still living here? Every person I hear gush on how wonderful somewhere else is, is still living in the states. Why?
For all of our faults and flaws, we are still the first place every motherfricker wants to come to. Why is that?

Grocery prices, yes. My insurance and utilities , no. These industries cite anything and everything possible to justify higher rates. They were high before this current jump in fuel prices. And I was pissed about it then.

What you’re doing is called anthropomorphizing. Animals don’t react the same as humans. And animals that lead solitary lives, like reptiles or tigers, don’t need social interaction. They’re solitary animals so they don’t get lonely or need interaction the way humans and herd animals do.

I just buy Polo shirts from Ralph Lauren. Worked for me in high school, works for me now. I find most modern polo shirts to be like golf shirts. Thin and flimsy. And that’s fine for golf, but i prefer the material of the original Polo for everything else.

A biologist of what? No offense, but a tangential relationship with the subject doesn’t instill a lot of confidence. My wife is a veterinarian. She has a tangential relationship with zoonotic diseases as well. But that doesn’t make her an expert on Hantavirus. And during Covid this site and (society in general) was littered with those who claimed to have authority on the subject but were only parroting whatever narratives fit their beliefs.
I’m not trying to be a dick, but we already suffered (quite literally) through plenty of “experts” during COVID who were all flat arse wrong. Not really in the mood to go through that again.
