you get legit calls from numbers you don’t recognize(dr office, contractors)

Then they can leave a message. Why would you answer a phone call from a number you don’t recognize?

Shade Tree has closed. Lonnie moved to Pensacola to retire. :(

Good for him, but it’s a loss for foodies. Ate lunch there a lot when I worked in Broussard and never had a bad meal.

Pearl Jam comes to mind. As does Alice In Chains. STP, Black Crows, Incubus and so on.

But I’d imagine those groups may be credited to an earlier decade if they formed earlier.

farm subsidies for illegals

What does this even mean? Are you saying the farms are owned by illegals? You think the workers are illegals?
Shade Tree in Broussard.

Unless they’re closed. Boiling Point in New Iberia, Tons, BJs, Nash’s, Poorboys Riverside Inn in Broussard. T Coons off Pinhook in Laffy. No shortage of options in that area.
SW Louisiana is the meca for plate lunches. If you can’t find a traditional restaurant, don’t sleep on little independent grocery stores or even convenience stores. For all Acadiana has to offer from a culinary perspective- and it offers a lot- plate lunches in that region are off the charts and overlooked IMO.
Not exclusively. I’ve watched several tracts in my vicinity get torched before being cut. I can’t understand why as the harvesters seem to handle the cane efficiently regardless. Like Most here, I’m puzzled as to why burning is still allowed given the advances in harvesting and the pandering to green practices. I can only assume it’s
The typical antiquated, Louisiana backwards arse way of doing things that’s so pervasive in every aspect of living here.

and some of it probably is laced with whatever herbicides that have been put in those fields since the last burn.

You should be embarrassed for posting this. This is some next level effeminate shite right here. Hope you’re female.

The dry sugar cane leaves that once went up in smoke now form a protective blanket on the fields, enriching the soil. Some of these leaves, commonly called straw in Brazil, are also collected to generate renewable energy. Excess electricity from the mills is sold to the grid, often at a significant profit.

. What a load of horseshite.

Someone audit Allen’s checking account. Dude has to be on someone’s payroll. Besides the Bills.

Bagasse.

Ash from burning off the sugar cane found a good bit in my yard yesterday. Good fertilizer I believe.

No. Bagasse is what’s left over after the grinding process. The ash to which you refer is just the cane burned off by the farmer before harvesting. Bane of my existence when I had a swimming pool.
Was Taste of China the place on Airline just north of 12? Next door to that Holiday Inn?

Not a buffet if that’s important. But it is delicious. Wish it was closer.

If you NEED a diesel, you need a 1 ton

There’s a lot of truth in this. I towed a three horse trailer all over the southeast for years with an F250 diesel. Got a sweet deal on a GMC 3500 when I went to replace it. The difference between hauling with a 3/4 ton and the 1 ton was incredible. For that reason, I would never buy a 3/4 ton truck. Luckily, I no longer haul to horse shows so it’s back to a good old half ton gasser. I can’t imagine paying the prices they want for 3/4 ton trucks and larger currently. Absolutely obscene.
Plumbing is one trade I wouldn’t want to do. Every plumber I see has a shovel in his truck.
frick a shovel.

Start with intermittent fasting

This has worked well for me. 18 hour fast is easier than I thought. 24 hour fast is doable, but I need something to do to keep me busy like outside work for the last six to eight hours.

You mean the part where we assess what one has learned?
Yeah, like the scene with Max and Holly? That’s a whole lot of jaw boning while the gates open.

I’ve felt that way about every episode in S5, TBH. Just seems drawn out.
