Dabo Swinney Responds To Clemson’s 2019 Weak ACC Schedule
© Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports
On Wednesday, a local South Carolina reporter asked head coach Dabo Swinney about Clemson's 2019 schedule. Some have criticized their schedule as having “a lack of competition in the ACC”...Dabo's response...
quote:

“Boy that’s a loaded question isn’t it? I couldn’t disagree more on how you phrased the question. There’s no lack of competition in our league. There’s a reason we’ve won two out of the last three national championships and it’s not because we don’t play anybody.

We’ve played everybody. We’ve played Alabama three times in national championships. We’ve played Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M…

Our league had 11 bowl teams this year…our league is incredibly competitive and deep.”

I’m starting to get “Clemson Fatigue” man. We need some other teams from other conferences to get in the playoffs imho.

If Miami and FSU ever get their shite together again Clemson doesn't stand a chance.

Is last year's LSU team a playoff team with that schedule. YES. Is this year's LSU team a playoff team with that schedule. YES. Their only difficult games are OOC -AM. But the ACC is tough and deep? LOL. In addition to AM, LSU has Texas, Florida, Auburn, and BAMA.

Why the hell would the schedule OOC teams when there current schedule is perfectly adequate to get the to the CFP?

Its only an issue if they dont Win every game & they seem up to the task lately so Dabo shouldn't have to defend a damn thing IMO.

Its fair criticism, but these schedules are made years in advance. Only thing that gets added in recent years are the same powder puff teams everyone plays. Clemson cant be at fault that FSU turned into a dumpster fire.

All that being said, the ACC is trash.

i'm a fan of theirs during the NC games..........and, i generally like dabo........however, how does pointing out that you played alabama the last few years, ohio st and oklahoma and Tx a&m defend your conference strength?

Outside of A&M he's trying to justify strength of schedule based on playoff wins which they didn't elect to schedule.. rather they earned the opportunity to play them after winning their way through a weaker conference schedule... To be fair they have a limited amount of control given the annual South Carolina matchup, but it's a fair statement that the ACC doesn't offer much in the way of strong competition right now.

He's right about Clemson. He's wrong about the ACC. The rest of the ACC is similar to the PAC12
