Once we started processing the handful or more of players, did we ever actually pick up any big names to replace them other than McGlothern (who I think is going to be a super star)? Dumervil and Webb were secret commits before all this went down (or at least the thought was LSU was in a strong position to land).

I'm not a fan of processing as many players as we did, with many of them Louisiana players that are now at SEC schools. And it looks like we may struggle to sign a full class.

I think this is a fair topic to discuss without it being about bashing O or denigrating this class. But, do you think O got a little ahead of himself?

We don't care.

Furthermore, we don't care what your opinion is.

Anyone writing a definitive answer to where either of those guys ends up is full of shite. The teams haven't even been given their final answers yet.

And you realize (and just prepare yourself), the cocks around here are going to twist these words to mean, "you said we are going to get them".

Glad you said this. There’s nothing more satisfying than when people pretending to know something, shooting down others and shitting on everyone, and then BEING COMPLETELY WRONG!!!

Where you at CS?
quote:

If LSU never offered Munoz a full time coaching job, this isn’t on Baylor or Aranda. They are simply offering him the job he wants while his current employer is not.

All of you would leave in the same situation.

This is exactly right. He is an analyst. Not the passing game coordinator at LSU. It isn't stealing him to be an analyst at Baylor. He's offering a promotion. Any coach that's on LSU's staff that Aranda wants to promote to a higher, more lucrative position, is fair game IMO.
quote:

Of course not. But there are lots of good 200 runners who only have good 40 times. The point is that they are handing out five stars. A guy like Boutte, who does not have great height or super long arms, would need to have a great 40 time, and THAT is NOT implied by a good (not great) 200 time.

"A good", not "great" 200m time.

Just keep digging yourself deeper. He just went 21.2 in early season. That time puts him as one of the BEST in the country, and furthermore would nearly put him in the TOP ten of ALL TIME at LSU.... a school notorious for producing the WORLD'S top sprinters year after year.

But that's just a good 200m time, not a great one right????
quote:

Actually, the 400 in the longest real sprint but continue

For those that can run it fast enough. Lol. It can be all anaerobic for some very fast people but generally not for most. If we are defining this in terms of aerobic anaerobic.
quote:

You are simply wrong about this. Sure a good 200 runner has to have good top end speed, but he DOES NOT have to have good acceleration - at least not “good” compared to top end sprinters. The 200 is the longest real sprint, and it allows time for top end speed to overcome great starts.

WHAT????

I really think you troll this stuff. Just about every analysis you have (lately about Stingley is 100% wrong). Is that for fun?

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to run 21.0 in the 200 indoor and not have ELITE acceleration. You accelerate to top end and then float. The amount of force his foot is hitting the ground with to go 21 means he absolutely has elite acceleration. And with the tight turns you in some ways are deaccelerating to accelerating again.

I can’t believe someone would even try to argue this???
quote:

Exactly, you can’t put up elite 200m times and not be blazing fast even at 40. It’s all still a sprint

I don't know if people are just dumb or they don't think. Bolt runs a 4.3 in pants and dress shoes and lets up the last 10 yards. I can just hear people at some point saying "Bolt" might be fast, but he doesn't have football speed. :rotflmao:
quote:

There is a big difference between 200m speed and accelerating past a bunch of fools in the first 5-10 yards, which is much more important in elite football.

I have no idea if Boutte has the elite football speed or not but let’s not pretend he’s ever going to run a 200 yard sprint on a football field.

You do realize that in order to run a low 21 200m, a runner has to have good top end speed and acceleration??? If you think that it’s possible to run that fast and not be fast in the first 5, 10, 20, or 40 yards, then you really don’t know much about running.
To put this in perspective,

Michigan claims both the 1903, and 1904 national titles where they were undefeated, with only the NCF recognizing them as national champs.

THIS IS THE SAME THING LSU has going for it in 1908. From what I understand, the NCF, national championship foundation is considered the legit source.

quote:

Should’ve been done a long time ago. At this point, it just looks silly to claim it.

Maybe in some parts we catch a little flack from it for a little bit. But in the long run, no one will remember that we posthumously claimed it. So... there is no reason to not do it. it's a legitimate claim

Damien Lewis will get drafted too.

I would assume he's a better prospect than MaGee?
what is the record? Jesus put that in perspective. It's a ton of players.

So we should amend your quoted statement to say O usually hires good talent, no?

No one is going to hit the bullseye every time. But, what coach O has been outstanding at is identifying problems and fixing them, and not waiting around to fix them. He's also shown he's not afraid of taking risks.

So your attempt to shite on him just shows that you are still wiping the shite off your face from the 15-0, greatest team of all time season we just had.

He’s a very good DC. I don’t know how he’ll be as HC but I wish him and Baylor the best. His recruiting wasn’t very noteworthy.

This. But I'll add that he is highly liked and respected by other coaches, and was important a building a strong positive culture at LSU. So, he may be able to surround himself with good recruiters.

He seems like he’s got something seriously wrong

He's just a young guy, with a ton of money, at the peak of hormones. Not making excuses for him, but if I'd had all that at his age, I'd likely already be in jail. He needs to get some good people around him to help him become more aware of things and help him grow up.

You do realize that the 34 has been around for decades, don’t you? It has nothing to do with being old or old-school.

I was basing it upon the fact that traditionally, LSU has been a 4-3 team, at least as long as I've been alive. Though, I don't really know what you'd call Tepper's drop linebacker thingy.
quote:

Yes please switch to a 4-2-5 and let’s let our DL eat. If Chaisson comes back it would be especially nasty. He’s already big enough to play 4-3 DE in a pinch but let him gain 10lbs of muscle in the summer to show scouts he can thrive in either defense.

DE: Chaisson
DT: Shelvin
DT: Logan
DE: Farrell/Thomas (if he returns)
LB: Clark
LB: Stevens
CB: Stingley
FS: Harris
SS: Hampton
NB: Vincent
CB: Flott/Ricks

You still have package guys to rotate in like Brooks. I think Stevens makes an excellent Keon Alexander type LB in a 4-3.

You need to watch more football.

With teams getting more and more to the spread and keeping the same personnel on the field, so defenses can't switch, having too many big boys on the field is going to kill you by the 2nd quarter.

A 3-4 is more versatile and puts more speed on the field. It's easier to disguise coverage, and you can blitz from anywhere on the field, with virtually any player. O will be making a huge mistake if he goes back to the 4-3.
