Allen Iverson’s Football Highlights Are Making The Internet Rounds
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports
While on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Club Shay Shay, former Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson talked about his days as a dominant high school football QB...
quote:

“Not being cocky, not being arrogant. I think, no, I know that I would have been a better player at football than I was at basketball. And that’s not disrespecting basketball gods, that’s not disrespecting the game that that’s done so much for me. I mean I’m a household name, I’m a Hall of Famer in that sport, but football was my first love,” Iverson admitted.
He then later backed it up with some highlights...

I remember seeing Iverson listed as one of the top DBs in the nation (and I believe one of the Top 25 players) by Athlon in the recruiting section of their CFB preview. He'd have probably been a 5 star athlete if they had those rankings back then. Also mentioned Peyton and Josh Booty.

He was the no 1 recruit in FB and BB. Being recruited at both QB and DB. He was going to Notre Dame to play QB if it wasnt for the brawl

If you've ever been to Po-Boy Express on Shreveport on Line Ave, they have the cover of that magazine from that year in the men's bathroom. Random I know.

His backup on that team? Little guy named Michael Vick.

Vick didn't go to Iverson's high school, and they aren't from the same hometown (though the same area of VA). So I don't think this is right.

Not correct. AI went to Bethel, the Vicks went to Warwick. I don’t think Michael was even in high school when Iverson graduated.

You mean to tell me a hall of fame athlete was good at more than one sport?
