Love this response from Tyrann Mathieu to football executive Bill Polian after he predicted that Joe Burrow will struggle in his rookie season with the Bengals...

Mathieu deleted the tweet directed towards Polian but here's what it said, per 247Sports:
quote:

"Same guy who said he wouldn't draft me cause I wasn't a leader?" Mathieu said via a quote-tweet response to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, whom Polian joined on Tuesday's new episode of the Adam Schefter Podcast in which the dig at Burrow was made. "Imma 3x Team Captain. Said I don’t deserve The opportunity to provide for my family ? I'm one of the highest paid players at my position. LETS GEAUX JOE."

Tyrann if you didn't do what you did to get kicked off the team. You are a top 5 draft pick and you wouldn't be commenting about this. You let everybody down including yourself. I am a honey badger fan and I am glad that you used that negativity to better yourself.

@zeek, he didn't let me down. Also, he seems to be doing fine. Young men make mistakes. Don't pretend to know what he was, going through in college.

I have to admit that Zeek is somewhat correct here. Mathieu absolutely let his team down and the entire state at the time. I’m sure TM would also agree. That’s not a knock on him. That’s what he needed to get to where he is today. I’m happy that he realized what is truly important in life. Can’t let a freakn plant imprison you. We are the rulers of this earth. The earth is ours to use wisely. Mathieu finally realized this fact when his world was taken from him. He’s a smart man. He was just an ignorant boy then. Of course I did forgive Mathieu a long time ago but he indeed let us all down with his past actions (at the time). I’m sure he regrets it bigly. But I’m sure he also appreciates it for being where he is now once the lesson was learned. He’s a good dude and I believe he always was. He just so happens to be very good at football. One of my favorite Tigers of all time, Tyrann Mathieu!

Man, is there anyone out there that doesn’t respect the hell outta him? Tm7 is a great representative of LSU and great leader for any team he plays for, and a great man. I’m happy he was here for however brief it was, I’ll always remember 2011 and what he meant to that team.

Honey Badger has made as much out of his opportunity and talent as anyone and turned his life around. Not only has he been a great leader for his teams, he has given back to his alma matter. Geaux Honey Badger.

TM sticking up for his Tigers no matter who they play for. But. Saying a rookie is going to struggle at the toughest position on the worst team is not a big stretch of a prediction

The Honey Badger says what he wants, and backs it up on the field. LSU FOREVER!

Let people doubt Burrow. I wouldn’t bet against him that’s for damn sure. The kid feeds off the haters and doubters. Anyone doubting Burrow is frickin moron btw

Bill Polian can’t even comprehend the existence of Joe Burrow; he can’t even grasp the concept, because Polian is the biggest choke artist coach in the history of football, whereas Burrow is the best, most incredible, clutch artist winner arse-kicker ever in college football. Polian thinks Burrow is 00100&$(*^%toaster*%{! Bleep overloadsystemcrash.

He GM’d the Bills to 4 straight Super Bowl losses lol

Bill Polian is only the best GM in the history of the NFL. I would put Bill Belichick above him, but I don't think that is fair because Belichick gets to also coach the players that he aquires. Bill Polian only acquired the talent,he had to rely on others to coach them. However who else has been to 4 straight SuperBowls, nobody. Go look at his record as a GM his teams won/loss records. He (In college) would be equivalent to a Nick Saban recruiting wise. His comments about Joe Burrow isn't necessarily negative,or a knock on Joe's abilities.

Polian keeps claiming he played club football for NYU in the 1960's. Must have been flag football for his frat. NYU dropped football in 1952.
user avatar

Thus it was ‘club’ football...
user avatar
Buckeye Jeaux67 months
More likely flag football. Zero record of any NYU football schedules after 1952. I went to grad school at NYU. If there was any football worth mentioning, I would have heard about it. 'Club' football is a stretch.

It’s doubters like this that create extra motivation for competitors. Bill may have rubbed TM7 the wrong way but TM remembers what Bill Polian said about him and he choose to prove him wrong! Haters can either bring you down and be right or you make them eat crow. Burreaux, make them eat crow!

Ya, well...he struggled his first year at LSU too. I don’t think the Bengals drafted him solely for the impact he’d make in the 2020 season.
