Fletcher Mackel of WDSU in New Orleans is reporting that LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker is expected to be hired as Tulane's next head coach.

Mackel says the deal is not done yet, but could be soon.

Baker would replace Jon Sumrall, who is taking over the Florida job.

Baker played linebacker at Tulane from 2000 to 2004 before getting into coaching in 2009.

Hopefully, the next one can defend a mobile QB.

Always happy to see a guy go be a head coach at his Alma mater. Big blow for our defense and recruiting. Let’s see who becomes the DC.

Better now than after next season. Maybe the rest of the defensive staff will come together soon now that this process is over.

Really like Baker. Would like to have him for another season, but I hope he does well. We'll keep the light on for him.
